Trileptal is a medication used to treat partial seizures in adults and children aged 2 years and older. It can be used as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy with other anti-seizure medications. Dosing is dependent on age, with children under 16 years old generally starting at 8-10 mg/kg per day given twice daily. Common side effects seen in over 5% of patients include dizziness, somnolence, diplopia, nausea, vomiting, ataxia, abnormal vision, tremor and dyspepsia. Approximately 10-23% of patients discontinue treatment due to adverse effects such as dizziness, diplopia, ataxia, vomiting and nausea. Tri
