“It [the application]
defiantly helped me to
form my own opinion about
a piece, which I normally
don’t go out of my way to
do”

                                “I liked the interactive
                              aspect and how it made
                            me consider details I didn’t

  3. Notes for Museums and the Web conference:\n \nIntroduction:\n \nThe museum was previously installed chronologically with Ancient Greek and Roman on the top floor and Contemporary Art on the bottom floor\n \nThe museum was closed for almost two years for construction and we saw an opportunity to reinstall thematically.\n \nWe got a J. Paul Getty Trust Foundation Museum Interpretation Grant to help fund the reinstallation and the subsequent evaluation\n \nRandi Korn and Associates was chosen to do the evaluation.\n \nWe evaluated 9 faculty members and 10 students. Some findings:\n \nInstead, students usually sought out interpretive devices, like text labels, for\nan explanation of how they were “supposed to feel.” (Randi Korn and Associates, 2008.)\n \nFaculty members have the intellectual capacity to create their own meaning and\nfelt comfortable having to make sense of the thematic arrangement of objects. Students, on the other hand, are in the beginning stages of developing their intellectual capacity and probably experienced the Museum from their perspective as college students. Therefore, they relied more heavily on the\ninterpretation presented by the Museum and even then, most had difficulty articulating the intended themes. (Randi Korn and Associates, 2008.)\n \n \nMost faculty members were comfortable with the challenge before them as they began to make sense of the reinstallation themes, while most students were looking for clues to guide them, and relied heavily on the label text. (Randi Korn and Associates, 2008.)\n \nThe thematic installation encouraged both faculty and students to think about works of art in new and different ways. (Randi Korn and Associates, 2008.)\n \nNeed to find some good direct quotes from the students, I will see what I can dig up.\n\nThe museum was previously installed chronologically with Ancient Greek and\nRoman on the top floor and Contemporary Art on the bottom floor\n\nThe museum was closed for almost two years for construction and we saw an\nopportunity to reinstall thematically.\n\nWe got a J.
