Webinar: Securing IoT with FIDO AuthenticationFIDO Alliance
IDC estimates that there will be 41.6 billion connected IoT devices by 2025, opening up opportunities for increased efficiencies and innovation across industries. Yet, lack of IoT security standards and typical processes such as shipping with default password credentials and manual onboarding leave devices, and the networks they operate on, open to large-scale attack.
Last summer, the FIDO Alliance announced a new standards initiative to tackle these security issues in IoT. The Alliance’s IoT Technical Working Group aims to provide a comprehensive authentication framework for IoT devices in keeping with the fundamental mission of the Alliance – passwordless authentication. These webinar slides provide an update on this new work area, including:
--How FIDO Authentication and existing specifications fit into the IoT ecosystem today
--The charter and goals of the IoT TWG, including development of specifications for IoT device attestation/authentication profiles to enable interoperability between service providers and IoT devices; automated onboarding, and binding of applications and/or users to IoT devices; and IoT device authentication and provisioning via smart routers and IoT hubs
--The progress of the working group to date, including the use case and target architectures the IoT TWG is looking at as a foundation for its specifications and certification program
This document describes the development of a robotic arm that can be controlled by a smartphone application via Bluetooth. The robotic arm was designed with 6 servo motors to allow movement in four directions (left, up, down, right) at specified angles. An Arduino UNO microcontroller was used to program and control the robotic arm. A smartphone application was developed and linked to the Arduino via Bluetooth to enable remote control of the robotic arm from a smartphone. Testing showed the robotic arm could successfully communicate with the smartphone but faced performance limitations due to the underpowered servo motors used. Upgrading to stronger servo motors was recommended to improve performance.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

4. ASRock Industrial’s FDO-enabled Devices
ASRock Industrial collaborates with Intel® to develop
FDO-enabled devices for automated, bare-metal system onboarding
6. Zero-touch onboarding past power-ON
Benefits of ASRock Industrial’s FDO-enabled Devices
Fast and secure with lower onboarding costs
Late binding of the device to cloud greatly reduces
number of SKUs vs. other zero-touch offerings
Hardware flexibility – ASRock Industrial provides

9. Smart 360°
patrolling with AI object detection in factories ensures employee safety,
reduces machine downtime, and minimizes labor costs for patrolling. ASRock
Industrial’s iEP-7020E FDO-enabled device utilizes FDO for automatic onboarding
and deployment in factories. When connected with Cupola360 camera, the iEP-
7020E enables smart 360°
patrolling and AI object detection on-site. The AI
inference results are displayed at the owner's site using In-band manageability for
remote management.
