Introduction
Multimedia is one of the important innovations
in the field of educational technology to
improve the process and product of teaching
learning. The multimedia consisting of the use
of many appropriate and carefully selected
devices, techniques and media in such a
combination as to yield in the most effective
realization of the teaching-learning objectives
in a best possible way.
Definition of Multimedia
• The term multimedia is derived from word
Multi and Media.
• Multi means many , multiple
• Media means medium of communication
• Multimedia is a combination of text, graphics
,sound ,animation and video to effectively
communicate ideas to uses.
Multimedia materials
•Multimedia materials consist of items made
up of more than one type of material. These
include books or serials in conjunction with
software, CD-ROM products, audio tapes,
video tapes, DVDs and LP discs, as well as
various combinations of non-book
materials.such as

•E-Materials
PRINT MATERIAL
• Print material – consists of all written
material, excluding non-print resources,
which convey planned course
information. Ex : textbooks, workbooks,
reference books, newspapers, journals
and magazines.
ADVANTAGES OF PRINT MATERIALS
• Extremely portable:- Print materials can be
used in any location.
• High comfort level :-Most students are very
comfortable using print materials to learn.
• Cost effective:- Print materials can be created
and duplicated with little expense.
• Readily available:- Many distance learning
courses can take advantage of existing
textbooks, thus saving the time and expense of
creating custom materials.
DISADVANTAGES OF PRINT MATERIALS
• No interactions:- Print materials do not generally
provide built-in interactions. Additional technologies,
such as e-mail, must be supplemented.
• No audio/visual elements:-Print materials are static
and are not appropriate for teaching languages and
visual concepts.
• Require reading skills:- If the learners are non-readers
or language skills are required, print materials will not
be effective.
• Time delay:- it may take days or weeks for printed
matter to travel between student and teacher.

• Sometimes you have to book the space for the
advertisementone month or one week in
advance.
• Magazines are expensive compared to
newspapers.
• Less population read magazine compared to
newspaper. The advertisement cost is high
compared to newspaper.
• Limited flexibility for the ads placement and the
format used.
B) NEWSPAPER
•A printed publication (usually issued
daily or weekly) consisting of folded
unstapled sheets and containing news,
articles, advertisements, and
correspondence.
•"all the newspapers carried the story"
ADVANTAGES OF NEWSPAPER
• Newspaper is read by huge number of population so news or
information can be made available easily .
• Reader can read news any time whenever he wish and able to read
information again and again.
• Now a days newspaper is made available directly to your house by
many vendors, so no need to go and buy newspaper everyday.
• Newspaper is available in various languages .
• Almost all the latest news are covered in the newspaper which
gives information about the latest trend going on in the world.
• You can also increase vocubulary and general knowledge by
reading newspaper daily and regularly.
• Weather report, sports events, business news, local news as well as
world news is available in newspaper.
• Newspaper are ecofriendly and easy to recycle.

A) E - book
It is an electronic version of a traditional print
book that can be read by using a personal
computer or by using an ebook reader. Ebook
is a book in electronic format. it is
downloaded to a computer ,PC ,Mac, laptop,
tablet ,smartphone or any other kind of
reading device and it is read on the screen .It
can have number pages ,table of contents,
pictures and graphics, exactly like a printed
book.
ADVANTAGES OF E-BOOK
• Ebooks are delivered almost instantaneously. You can
purchase, download and start reading them within minutes,
without leaving your chair.
• You don't have to go to a bookstore to buy them, neither
wait for them for days, weeks and sometimes more to ar
rive in the mail.
• No trees are required to manufacture paper for the pages
of ebooks.
• When you need certain information, you can get it
immediately, by downloading an ebook.
• Many ebooks are sold nowadays with bonuses, which you
usually do not get with a printed book. This adds value to
your purchase.
• E-books take up less space. You practically don't need
anyspace to store them.
DISADVANTAGED OF E-BOOK
• Some people don’t like reading books on a computer
screen. (But they could still print the ebook on paper if they
prefer).
• Ebooks made with some software require certain hardware
and software to be installed, e.g. they might not be able to
be read on a mac computer, or perhaps on a PC that does
not have Internet Explorer installed.
• Ebooks can be lost if someone’s hard drive fails and they
had not made a backup.
• Some people worry that the ebook will not be readable by
future e-book devices.
• Ebooks might be hacked, copied or distributed without the
author’s or publisher’s permission.

An electronic journal is a periodical
publication which is published in
electronic format, usually on the
Internet.

• Eliminates physical processing.
• Saves shelve space.
• It access any time, anywhere.
• First published on line available quicker
than print publications.
• Access to archive issues.
DISADVANTAGES OF E-JOURNAL
• Technical barriers-hardware and
software, network connection, etc.
• Infrastructure snags-band with and load
shedding issues,etc.
• Require skills and training to use.
• Costs to acquire e-resource can be high-
technology and content.
• Users unfriendliness depends on
platform.
