INTRODUCTION
• Multimedia gives life to Information.
• Multimedia is a content that uses a combination of
different content forms such as text, audio, images,
animation, video and interactive content.
• Multimedia can be recorded and played or displayed
with the help of processing device such as computerized
and electronic devices.
Basic concepts of
multimedia
• The multimedia concept is based on a common
denominator in the field of computer, it can be brought
together from the field of videography, audiography,
scriptography.
• Computer technologies form the basis for sustaining the
process whereby multimedia applications are created.
• Applications are further used to construct products like
good quality video, three-dimension images, sonds and
text.
History or Evolution
• Newspaper were perhaps the first mass communication
medium to employ multimedia , they used mostly text,
graphics, and images.
• In 1895, gugliemo marconi sent his first wireless radio
transmission at italy, In 1901 he detected radio waves
beamed across the atlantics.

• Initially invented for telegraph, radio is now major
medium for audio broadcasting.
• Television was the new multimedia for 20th century. It
brings the video and has since changed the world of
mass communication

• TEXT: It is the primary component of multimedia. Most of
the information can be presented with the help of text. We
can emphasis the text by using fonts, colors, styles.
• GRAPHICS : Digital representations like photographs,
drawings are known as graphics. It can be used with text
medim.
• Audio: It is one of the most important component of
multimedia. It can be music, speech or any ther sound.

• VIDEO: The effective medium of presenting information
is video. It presents the moving images. It displays the
sequence of pictures at the speed of 15-30 frames per
second.
• ANIMATION: The animation medium presents the
sequence of still images of artwork at a rapid speed.

• ADVANTAGES: It helps students and teachers to learn
and teach easily.
• It can be used to spread knowledge all over the world in
low cost.
• It is very interactive.
• DISADVANTAGES: It is expensive to produce
