Interpretive Strategies
1. Historicism considers the literary work in light of "what really happened" during the period reflected in that work. It insists that to understand a piece, we need to understand the author's biography and social background, ideas circulating at the time, and the cultural milieu. Historicism also "finds significance in the ways a particular work resembles or differs from other works of its period and/or genre," and therefore may involve source studies. It may also include examination of philology and linguistics. It is typically a discipline involving impressively extensive research.
2. New Criticism examines the relationships between a text's ideas and its form, "the connection between what a text says and the way it's said." New Critics/Formalists "may find tension, irony, or paradox in this relation, but they usually resolve it into unity and coherence of meaning." New Critics look for patterns of sound, imagery, narrative structure, point of view, and other techniques discernible on close reading of "the work itself." They insist that the meaning of a text should not be confused with the author's intentions nor the text's affective dimension--its effects on the reader. The objective determination as to "how a piece works" can be found through close focus and analysis, rather than through extraneous and erudite special knowledge.
3. Archetypal criticism "traces cultural and psychological 'myths' that shape the meaning of texts." It argues that "certain literary archetypes determine the structure and function of individual literary works," and therefore that literature imitates not the world but rather the "total dream of humankind." Archetypes (recurring images or symbols, patterns, universal experiences) may include motifs such as the quest or the heavenly ascent, symbols such as the apple or snake, or images such as crucifixion--all laden with meaning already when employed in a particular work.
4. Psychoanalytic criticism adopts the methods of "reading" employed by Freud and later theorists to interpret what a text really indicates. It argues that "unresolved and sometimes unconscious ambivalences in the author's own life may lead to a disunified literary work," and that the literary work is a manifestation of the author's own neuroses. Psychoanalytic critics focus on apparent dilemmas and conflicts in a work and "attempt to read an author's own family life and traumas into the actions of their characters," realizing that the psychological material will be expressed indirectly, encoded (similar to dreams) through principles such as "condensation," "displacement," and "symbolism."

Negotiation is a highly important personal and professional skill which presents itself with numerous challenges. Understanding how to successfully negotiate with a variety of persons is important for effective communication across a variety of contexts. Complete both part one and part two of this assignment.
Part One: Role Play
Directions
: choose ONE of the scenarios from the attached "Negotiation Scenarios" document, or an alternative scenario approved by your instructor.
To successfully do your negotiation, follow the Seven Elements of Principled Negotiation found in the textbook and use those during your selected "Negotiation Scenario." For this assignment, you will serve as the initiating party of the negotiation. The objective is to gain a better understanding of the negotiation process and how each step functions.
You will need to solicit the help of one person. This person will take on the role of the adversarial party in your selected scenario.
One Volunteer
Please solicit the help of one volunteer, this can be a friend, family member, or classmate. This volunteer will help you role play the negotiation scenario. Share your selected scenario with the volunteer and inform them that there is no verbatim script, so they are encouraged to behave the way they feel the participant would in a real negotiation. Encourage your volunteer to approach this in a serious and realistic fashion when advocating for their assigned position. The provided scenarios should require about 20 minutes of your volunteers time in order to properly address the negotiation.
*To help orient your instructor, state the role you took and the goals you set out with in your essay. Additionally, include the name of your volunteer in your essay.
Part Two: Essay
After conducting the negotiation, write a 1,250-1,750-word paper that discusses your experience and cites at least four credible and authoritative references. In your paper, analyze and reflect on your experience negotiating using the Seven Principles of Negotiation. Consider the following prompts:
1. Were you able to focus on the relationship or did it become competitive?
2. What elements of communication were you able to attend to and which did you struggle the most with?
3. Did you remain on the interest or did it get personal?
4. What options did you generate for the outcome?
5. What were your solution criteria?
6. Did you achieve your desired outcome or use the BATNA?
7. Was the commitment fair and realistic? How so?
8. How might this negotiation have been different if it were real and not a role play?
This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion.

Qualitative research is a research method which does not use numeric variables; it contributes knowledge or understanding by describing situations within certain groups or populations of interest. Data is often collected through interviews and observation (Helbig, 2018). Typically, when conducting qualitative research, there are enormous amounts of data which must be gathered, transcribed and managed. This amount of data can be overwhelming to the researcher, which may lead to confusing and erroneous results. There are ways to process the information into a quality study. First, researchers need to remain focused on the research question and the process to answer the question. Johnson et al. (2020) state, “Identifying and developing a research topic is comprised of two major tasks: formulating a research question and developing a conceptual framework to support the study.” Many times, the research question is too broad and too vague, which makes processing the information difficult. Additionally, the study should finish with a focused conclusion to help carry the focus through the entirety of the study. Wu et al. (2016) stated, “The process should be systematic (dependability) and well-documented in the analysis section of a qualitative manuscript.”
Second, Watkins suggests using the RADaR technique to manage all of the data. RADaR stand for Rigorous And accelerated Data Reduction. “The RADaR technique involves using tables and spreadsheets from general-purpose, word-processing software to develop all-inclusive data tables that undergo several revisions. These revisions, called “data reduction,” help produce shorter, more concise data tables” (Watkins, 2017). This process converts raw data into more manageable and user-friendly format.

It is been estimated that globally around 1 million cases of child abuse (2 to 17 years) in form of physical, emotional and sexual violence and neglect occurred in the previous year(U.S Department of Health and Human Services, 2019)
Types of abuse
Physical abuse : This involves all forms of activities that cause physical or physiological harm to a child, examples are beating, biting, shaking and burning, and it’s prevalent among children of all ages.
Psychological abuse: This might involve mental torturing such as verbal abuse or terrorizing a child as well as humiliation. All these forms may cause psychological illness in the victims. Usually toddler, preschool, and school-age years are exposed to psychological forms of abuse.
Sexual abuse: This includes involving minors or children below 18 years in sexual activities. Sexual abuse includes direct and indirect sexual activities that the child may not be able to comprehend, most victim of sexual abuse are preschoolers and school age children, but rare cases of infant and toddler abuse are also reported in many countries(U.S Department of Health and Human Services, 2019)
Signs of abuse:

Failing grades at school
Difficulties relating with others of engaging in any meaningful relationship
Increased incidence of theft, arrest, and violence
Promiscuous behaviors
Poor hygiene, and unkempt
Facial injuries with no cogent explanations
Abnormal weight gain or loss.Frequent elopements (U.S Department of Health and Human Services, 2019)
Cultural variations and child abuse

According to UNICEF 2022 data on female genital mutilation, about 200 million girls in 31 counties are victim of such practices. In some part of Africa, this form of child abuse is a norm for the female especially teenagers, the main reason for genital mutilation is preventing victims from promiscuity(UNICEF : For every child, 2020)
Nurse's role in reporting child abuse
Any forms of child abuse must be immediately reported to the police as well as child care authorities functioning under the state government.
When a nurse suspects a child abuse, it must be immediately reported to the physician or the senior in charge nurse.
If the child is with the person suspected to be an abuser, the further assessment must be done after eliminating the person from the room.
Ensure that the child is comfortable and then a head to toe assessment must be performed.
At the time of examination it is advisable to have a witness probably from the medical profession.
A nurse must properly record the significant assessment findings suggestive of abusive activity with date and time.

I have had experiences where I was talking to a person who was not listening at all. Some have even been engaged with their phones, pretending to listen. It can be very discouraging!
Hoppe (2014) briefly stated:
Active listening is the willingness and ability to hear and understand. At its core, active listening is a state of mind that involves paying full and careful attention to others. Avoiding premature judgment, reflecting understanding, clarifying information, summarizing and sharing are the steps to great listening. By learning and committing to these skills and behaviors, leaders can become more active listeners and, over time, improve their ability to lead.

Introduction
The proposed policy change is meant to improve the effectiveness of public laws and regulations and even give information on the public use of funds. Further, it will address the practices of the private sector employment that affects the ability of people to work and make their living above the poverty line and this mostly applies to the youths, unmarried dependent adults. The proposal is meant to make the public policy more inclusive, collaborative and responsive to the interests of the ordinary citizen so as to prepare them for their future life.
From the proposed amendment, there are measurable goals that will determine the level of success of the policy change proposal and this will include: First, by the end of the year we expect 60% of unmarried adult children to be independent and live an economically viable lifestyle. Second, by the end of 2018, the rate of poverty to reduce by 19% since the country will be composed of economically productive youths. Lastly, we expect the employment rate in the country to increase by 26% thereby increasing the economy of the country (Dillon, Erin & Rotherham 2009).
Policy change options
“Do nothing option” is when one does offer no initiative for change characterized by unwillingness and inability to take responsibility or work towards an achievement. Incremental change option is the step of making small adjustments to the expected end results, and mostly it does not alter or threaten the existing structure of the youthful age or alter the current methods of family management in this case of the change proposal. A major change option is the one that will alter the content, structure, the scheme of assessment and the mode of provision of the programs in question i.e. it will entail deletion, addition and replacement to a substantial part of the program or the act of law (Detixhe 2011).
Financial criteria
Substantive funding stream is the amount of money that is existing independently of others and is in large quantity. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
