2. What we have learned
1. Develop a shared vision focused on outcomes related to teaching and learning, rather than
outcomes related to use of devices or particular technology tools.
1. Professional development for teachers and school leaders needs to be differentiated both
by content area and by comfort/experience with technology.
1. Teachers desire time to
● Engage in ongoing, differentiated professional learning
● Integrate what they learn in PD into their curriculum immediately after PD sessions
● Collaborate and plan with other teachers at the team and school levels, and perhaps
form relationships and collaborate with teachers across schools, to support changing
their practice
● These activities should occur during paid time during the workday, rather than during
personal time.
6. Micro-Credentials
Based on each of the desired competencies, we are
developing a set of Micro-credentials for HISD teachers.
Teachers can select what THEY want to work on and earn
micro-credentials based on how they implement what they
have learned.
Evaluation begins with USD ( the granting institution) and
will move to a peer review process.
7. Micro-Credentials
1. Clearly define expectations of what we want
teachers to know and do
2. Incentivize application of learning over where
teachers learn
3. Provide multiple entry points for learning
4. Pilot with teacher leaders
5. Build an ecosystem to support learning and
innovation
