Future uses of maritime space in the Eastern Mediterranean such as blue energy, gas, oil exploration, and extraction of raw materials, along with permanent activities like shipping, fishing, aquaculture, and tourism, indicate the need for an integrated management approach involving different authorities, stakeholders, the public, and economic operators. To date, no marine planning has been implemented in the area despite increased human activities and use of maritime space.
