This sustainability report was prepared according to GRI guidelines for the period of April 2014 to March 2015. Data was collected from audited reports, HSE reports, and logbooks by specified data collectors. The report aims to inform stakeholders on KNPC's performance, initiatives, and challenges during the reporting period in a transparent manner. KNPC's current process involves training data collectors, distributing questionnaires, consolidating data, and engaging third party auditors. Stakeholder engagement is also a priority, with stakeholders mapped on a grid through a brainstorming session.

The use of spatial data in policy development and reviewIIED
These slides, presented by Sarah Darrah from the UN Environment Programme World Conservation Monitoring Centre at the Mainstreaming biodiversity workshop in Sogakope, Ghana, in November 2016, look at how spatial data can be used as a tool to support mainstreaming.
Darrah acknowledges that lack of access to data, and a lack of expertise in using spatial data, can be barriers to using this information for mainstreaming, but where there are existing research and data collection programmes and exchange of information between institutions, then spatial information can be a valuable.
She illustrates this using an example from the Lake Victoria basin, looking at the potential impacts of agricultural development on biodiversity.

Taking Stock – 40 years of Industrial Energy AuditsLeonardo ENERGY
Industrial energy audits were amongst the first energy efficiency policy measures developed in response to the oil shocks of the 1970s. Since then they have become enormously popular in industrialised economies. In the EU they are mandatory for large organisations under the EU Energy Efficiency Directive. Developing countries are considering them as they scale up their own climate programmes.
So interest in audits can only grow. But, from a policy-maker’s perspective, do they work? How do they work? How could they work for me? Certainly, in principle, audits are extremely important because they get to the heart of how a company uses energy. But after 40 years, the scientific literature on audits is large and complex and difficult for the non-specialist policy-maker to wade though.
This webinar tell the story of audits in a way designed to cut through this complexity. It recounts the history of audits and sets out why they are important. It sets out some of the main features of successful audit programmes, and, from the practical experience of the speaker, how to go about putting one together. It then considers the main problems with audits and how these can be addressed. Finally the talk will look ahead to see how audits might evolve in the near future.

RE-DELAYS: Documenting and analising the cost of regulatory delaysIEA_RETD
IEA-RETD investigated the costs of regulatory delays for the growth and economic potential of the renewable energy industry. Key recommendations from the RE-DELAYS project are:
• Streamline the regulatory processes by creating a one stop shop with simplified rules for applications.
• Increase accountability for decision making processes at the regulatory/governmental level, for example in the form of pre-determined fines associated with not achieving set milestones.
• Link the level of incentive such as FIT to delay.
• Define clear procedures and cost impact assessment of appeal processes.
• Inform the public about benefits and risks of RE and encourage consultative mechanisms to share concerns.
The project was carried out by 3E together with London Economics International LLC (LEI).
Indicators are data or a combination of data collected and processed for a clearly defined analytical or policy purpose. That purpose should be explicitly specified and taken into account when interpreting the value of an indicator.

f you offer a service on the web, odds are that someone will abuse it. Be it an API, a SaaS, a PaaS, or even a static website, someone somewhere will try to figure out a way to use it to their own needs. In this talk we'll compare measures that are effective against static attackers and how to battle a dynamic attacker who adapts to your counter-measures.

• In recent years, several GCC countries have announced plans and targets for conservin
g natural resources, improving energy efficiency, and deploying renewable technologies
.
• Solar energy has received particular attention, reflecting its high suitability in terms of
resource availability, cost-competitiveness and matching regional demand patterns.
• The GCC holds almost a third of proven crude oil reserves, and approximately a fifth of
the global gas reserves.
• A transition towards a more sustainable energy future would reduce CO2 emissions.
