The Morris-Jumel Mansion is Manhattan's oldest house, built in 1765. During the Revolutionary War, George Washington used it as his headquarters in 1776. In 1810, it was purchased by Stephen Jumel and his wife Eliza, who later married Vice President Aaron Burr. Currently located in Washington Heights, a predominantly Latin American immigrant neighborhood, the mansion interprets three historical periods and aims to connect with the local community through Spanish-friendly and low-cost programming.
