This presentation provides an overview of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses). It discusses that MOOCs aim to provide unlimited participation through online courses accessed via the web. The first MOOC was launched in 2008 and was called CCK8. There are two main types of MOOCs - C-MOOCs focus on connective and informal learning while X-MOOCs are more formal and assessment-based. The presenter is interested in forensic science, criminal science and microbiology MOOCs to learn about the role of science in criminal investigations and microorganisms.
