The librarian attended an all-day pull-out professional
development focused on Flipped Lessons for the library for high
school librarians. This was facilitated by the Library Services
department and several Instructional Technology Specialists. Also
attended a cluster professional development with a focus on ILL
policies and procedures, LibGuides, and ProQuest database.
Incoming freshmen and their families from private schools spent
an afternoon in the library with counselors and student leaders
from Churchill learning about our campus.
Book Club met twice this month: once to discuss Cloaked, our
book for the month; and once to discuss ordering t-shirts. Our
President and Vice President led both meetings.
We had a reading incentive program based on the “No Shave
November” theme. Students were allowed to enter their names
into a drawing for each book they checked out. Several prizes
were given away throughout the month.
A future librarian visited our campus to learn about our program
and our facility. We were able to offer her a tour and share ideas
that have been both continued and implemented in our library.
The librarian attended the first WC EdCamp professional
development which offered technology sessions based on the
participants’ needs and suggestions.
Several sculptures from Ms. Hoffman’s art classes were installed
this month.
Our displays were focused on Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving, the
50th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy, and
No Shave November.
The librarian presented the new format of the Library Welcome
Page to the PTA Board.
The librarian attended a training for the new StaffWeb version of
our circulation software, Sirsi.
2. Ms. B. Johnson’s students returned to the library to check out books for selfselected reading.
Mr. Sears’ students returned to the library for a Latin WebQuest.
Ms. Harral’s Spanish II classes created Wordle word clouds with their
paragraphs written in Spanish about their interests and activities.
Ms. Rodriguez’s and Ms. Young’s IPC classes spent several days in the library
with two assignments for the students. One group was doing extensive
research on energy sources and took notes, summarized their findings,
created citations, and culminated the research in a booklet in Publisher. The
other group of students worked on remediation for the Biology EOC on a
website.
Ms. Neel’s Senior English classes finalized an essay they had worked on
throughout that week.
