Mongolian traditional music uses instruments like the morin khuur (horse-head fiddle) and incorporates unique styles of singing like khoomei (throat singing) where a singer produces a deep low note and high notes simultaneously. A traditional genre called "long song" features extended melodies where each lyric is stretched out over a long duration so that a four minute song may only contain ten words. Modern Mongolian music has also incorporated Western influences while preserving traditional styles.
