A singer needs to be expressive
when interpreting a song

It is the whole
structure or plan of a
musical piece.
(design or blueprint)
MUSICAL PHRASE
It is a section or part of a
song or musical piece.
It usually consists of two,
four, or eight measures
It is the length a singer or
instrumentalist can sing or
play in one breath
MUSIC FOR LIFE
Like phrases in
music, you can
organize your daily
activities into group of
related tasks

TIMBRE
• This is also called TONE
COLOR
• It is the combination of
qualities of sound that
distinguishes it from other
sounds of the same pitch
& volume
TIMBRE
• It makes music
appealing to the
listener because of
the beautiful effects
an instrument or a
voice produces
CLASSIFICATION OF
SOUNDS
• SOPRANO, highest voice
range for a woman or a
young boy
• ALTO, is the singing voice
that is lower in range than
that of a soprano
CLASSIFICATION OF
SOUNDS
• TENOR is a man’s singing
voice with a range that is just
below the woman’s lowest
voice
• BASS, is the lowest tone or
part in music. It is the lowest
range of singing voice for a
man
WAYS TO INTERPRET
SONGS
• SOLO, performance done by
one singer only
• DUET, performance by two
persons singing the same
melody in unison or singing
two different melodies at the
same time
WAYS TO INTERPRET
SONGS
• TRIO, performance for three
voices singing in unison or
three different melodies
• ENSEMBLE, also called choir;
a group of singers singing
together the same melody, or
performing different melodies
at the same time

group of musicians playing the
same melody together or
playing different melodies at
the same time, thus, creating
a single and beautiful

  • 2. MUSIC 4 3rd QUARTER A singer needs to be expressive when interpreting a song
  • 3. FORM It is the whole structure or plan of a musical piece. (design or blueprint)
  • 4. MUSICAL PHRASE It is a section or part of a song or musical piece. It usually consists of two, four, or eight measures It is the length a singer or instrumentalist can sing or play in one breath
  • 5. MUSIC FOR LIFE Like phrases in music, you can organize your daily activities into group of related tasks
  • 6. MUSIC FOR LIFE This way, you will better remember the things you need to accomplish within the day
  • 7. MUSIC FOR LIFE You will also be able to complete your tasks more systematically and effeciently
  • 8. TIMBRE • This is also called TONE COLOR • It is the combination of qualities of sound that distinguishes it from other sounds of the same pitch & volume
  • 9. TIMBRE • It makes music appealing to the listener because of the beautiful effects an instrument or a voice produces
  • 10. CLASSIFICATION OF SOUNDS • SOPRANO, highest voice range for a woman or a young boy • ALTO, is the singing voice that is lower in range than that of a soprano
  • 11. CLASSIFICATION OF SOUNDS • TENOR is a man’s singing voice with a range that is just below the woman’s lowest voice • BASS, is the lowest tone or part in music. It is the lowest range of singing voice for a man
  • 12. WAYS TO INTERPRET SONGS • SOLO, performance done by one singer only • DUET, performance by two persons singing the same melody in unison or singing two different melodies at the same time
  • 13. WAYS TO INTERPRET SONGS • TRIO, performance for three voices singing in unison or three different melodies • ENSEMBLE, also called choir; a group of singers singing together the same melody, or performing different melodies at the same time
  • 14. WAYS TO INTERPRET SONGS • ENSEMBLE, can also be a group of musicians playing the same melody together or playing different melodies at the same time, thus, creating a single and beautiful HARMONY

  • 22. DYNAMIC SYMBOLS • Forte (f) which means loud • Fortissimo (ff) very loud • Mezzo forte (mf) moderately loud • Piano (p) soft • Pianissimo (pp) very soft • Mezzo piano(mp) moderately soft
