woman from Colaba tried to kill herself on Saturday . The woman landed up
in the GT Hospital ICU, even as her mother tested `negative' for the viral
disease on Monday .Doctors said the sales executive with a leading private
bank had consumed a concoction of 15 paracetamol pills and phenol late on
Saturday. She is stable now and has been kept under observation. Her
parents realised she had ingested something only after she had several bouts
of vomiting.
The woman's father told TOI that his wife, aged 50, had been suffering from
fever for two weeks. Her fever did not subside despite visiting several
doctors and hospitals. “We went to a private hospital finally , where they
suggested we admit my wife. They asked for a deposit of Rs 45,000, which we

and upset as they could not afford treatment in a hospital of their choice.
The father, a central government employee, said they were covered under

broke down.
