A week after the parents of a seven-year-old committed suicide for failing to get a bed for
their child suffering from dengue which led to his death, another case of dengue death
allegedly due to apathy of hospitals surfaced on Tuesday .The family of six-year-old Aman
said they ran from one hospital to another for five days Tuesday to Saturday last week
even as their child's condition deteriorated. He finally died due to multiple organ failure at
Holy Family Hospital on Sunday .
Aman's father, Manoj Sharma, said his son had been confirmed with dengue on Thursday .
“We first took him to Safdarjung Hospital. The doctors prescribed a few medicines and sent
him home saying it was not a serious case,“ he said.
“We trusted the doctor's judgement and brought him home. But Aman's condition
deteriorated again on Saturday and we had to rush him to Jeevan Hospital at Ashram in the
middle of the night,“ recalled a grieving Sharma.“His condition was very serious and the
hospital gave up after 24 hours when Aman's condition did not improve despite medication
and platelet transfusion.“ Sharma (33), who lives with his family in Sriniwas puri in south
Delhi, alleged that he took his son to Mool chand Medcity Hospital at 2.30 am but they
refused admis sion saying no bed was availa ble. “I also called Max and Ba tra hospitals but
they also refused,“ he alleged. Brought to you by

Moolchand, Max and Ba tra hospitals have denied the charge. A spokesperson of
Moolchand said they have gone through their patient records but could not find
any such name. “With reference to the death of Aman Sharma based on the
enquires made so far, we would like to state that Max Hospital, Saket, does not
have any record of the patient visiting the hospital,“ said Max Healthcare.
Aman's father said they admitted his son to Safdarjung Hospital at 4.30 am on
Sunday .
“The doctors admitted him after some dilly-dallying but for one hour from 4.30 am
to 5.30 am no medication was given to him. He was barely able to speak and we
could see him slipping. When we told the doctors to do something, they said there
were other serious patients to attend to. Finally , my elder brother took Aman to
Holy Family on a bike,“ said the father.
He said Aman was shivering all the way . “Holy Family did admit him but by then it
was too late. My son died at 9.06 pm on Sunday due to multiple organ failure
caused due to heavy internal bleeding and infection,“ he said. Brought to you by

Usha Sharma, Aman's mother, was inconsolable and the entire
neighborhood was mourning the death of the young boy . Aman's elder
sister, family members said, is also ill. “She has fever and respiratory
health issues,“ said grandmother Debo Devi.
Safdarjung Hospital claimed the family took away Aman on its own.
“The patient was admitted to the hospital at 4.44 am on Sunday but his
family took him to another hospital without informing anyone at 5.30
am,“ said the hospital.
