What to consider when planning a budget:
Know why you are budgeting.
The reason for budgeting is to help you spend less than you earn.
Have a specific, concrete long term goal in mind.
Be realistic.
Don’t be afraid to adjust, even radically.
Categories that give a detailed picture of exactly what you spend your money on:
Housing (utilities, rent, furniture)
Transportation (gas, public)
Taxes (work, home, personal business)
Debt (loans, credit cards)
Entertainment (movies, music, hobbies, going out)
Personal (food, clothes, health, holiday)
Insurance (home, car, health)
Unexpected Costs:
Non-routine (gifts bought for other people at Christmas or birthday)
Maintenance costs (cars, house)
Unexpected sicknesses (medical, doctor, hospital)

How to grow in life by not neglecting different parts of life. People mostly focus on money and career, but sometimes family. But life is beyond these three things
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

3. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
Let’s take a closer look at the concerns you may
face when you work overseas.
For your easy reference, the catchword is: “PRICEST”
P - Physical Mobility
R - Relationships
I - Income & Expenses
C - Career Movement & Job Security
E - Environment
S - Skill Set
T - Time
4. Your ability to move around as you are used to may be
limited when you are in the country of your destination.
There are countries that restrict access to certain places
or areas.
For example, there are countries in the Middle East that
prohibit single women from going to restaurants alone,
or being with someone of the opposite sex who is
not their spouse.
You may be accommodated in a small, cramped space
with other co-workers.
Your work may not also allow you time for
recreation.

5. When you work abroad, you will be leaving your family and friends behind. You may
be homesick.
You won’t be around when they celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and other special
family events, or when they are sick and need your presence.

Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : RELATIONSHIPS
Your absence may affect your relationships
with your spouse and children.
This can be very stressful. Are you
ready to cope?
6. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : INCOME & EXPENSES
Working overseas may give you opportunity to earn
more and improve your quality of life. However, when
your income increases, your expenses may also
increase.
In some countries, while the salary may be high, the
cost of living is likewise high. This could affect your
ability to save and remit for your family’s needs.
Let us see how much your take home pay will
be at the end of the day.

Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : INCOME & EXPENSES
Now that you have computed how much money you
will have after setting aside your saving and deducting
all your expenses, ask yourself -
1. Is your net income worth leaving your family?
2. Will your net income meet your objective in
working overseas?
Remember that working overseas is
temporary. While you are at it, learn how to
save for your future and the future of your
family.
9. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : CAREER MOVEMENT &
JOB SECURITY
Are you willing to leave a secured job in the
Philippines over a temporary but better paid
job overseas?
When you work overseas, you are hired for a specific
job. Your assignment will most likely remain the same
throughout your employment contract and without
any opportunity for promotion.
Your continued employment overseas will depend on
your agreement with your employer.
10. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : ENVIRONMENT
More than the difference in the physical environment
like climate and time difference, you will need to
adjust to a new culture altogether.
You will encounter language so unfamiliar, different
and limited food choices or even taste food you are
not accustomed to. You may also have to conform to a
prescribed type of clothing.
Developing new social relationships will be a
challenge as well.
11. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : SKILL SET
A number of job openings may interest you. Be sure
you are equipped with the qualifications such as
education and experience (skill set) to match the
requirements of the job.
Evaluate your skills.
Upgrade your skill set and level of experience before
applying, if necessary.
12. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
“PRICEST” : TIME
Come to work on time.
The “Filipino Time” that we are so used to is not
acceptable with foreign employers.
They are often very strict in observing work schedule.
For them every minute matters. Having productive
working hours is very important to them.
13. Pre-Employment Orientation Seminar (PEOS) Online - powered by Workabroad.ph
Module 1: PRICEST
What should I consider before deciding to
work overseas?
After going through all the questions –
What do you want?
Is your family ready?
Are you still going to pursue working
abroad or not?
