Changes in Financial Industry after OWS:
Debit card fees got shot down! Banks proposed a
$5/month fee on debit cards, which severely upset
consumers. Banks tried to blame legislators, but
because of the attention directed at big them during
OWS, consumers blamed the banks instead. This
resulted in debit card fees never happening.
Lots of transfers from big banks to local banks and
community credit unions
Obama administration formulated a plan for student
debt consolidation. Lowered the maximum amount of
borrower’s income that they have to pay on their
loans from 15% to 10% and changed the time after
which loans will be forgiven from 25 years to 20 years
