The student learned several important lessons from creating their media project. They learned that producing actual media like videos is much harder than expected and requires skills learned using software like Adobe Premiere. Access to professional digital cameras and editing software allowed the students to produce work near professional quality. However, they struggled with finding appropriate locations to film due to needing permissions. Looking back, the student realized how important planning and research are from the start to avoid getting stuck later. Leaving ideas open helped them adapt when things did not go as planned.

1. Media Evaluation Q6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? First of all, we’ve learnt that making an actual purpose video is a lot harder then what we all gathered it would be. Even during a preliminary project we were still looking at previous media student videos on youtube to see what they had achieved. However, the skills we gained from programme’s such as Adobe Premiere and Nero smart has made the work all that much easier. Without this technology we would have might not even been able to make a start. We are lucky because we have been able to use digital cameras to film then edit our work using computers loaded with the latest professional software. This shows that even amateur media students like us can get our heads down and are able to produce some near-enough professional quality material. A problem that occurred was despite having all the latest software to help film and edit, we still needed a location to film. At first we thought it would just be okay to take the camera’s out and start filming without knowing we needed permissions to take them out even though the woods are 20 metres from college. So we had to find a time where there would be nobody about to walk in during filming and permissions every time to actually be able to go out and film.

2. Media Evaluation Q7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Since my preliminary project i felt I have learnt the importance of how much planning there is to be done. If you don’t get it out of the way and do It and the start, you will get find a point where you will stuck and have nothing to lead off on. Unfortunately I made that terrible mistake towards the start of this project; I didn’t do much research and in the long run suffered for it. However in the end I did get it all sorted out but it was a set back whilst everyone else was able to get on with there work. One major point I have learnt during the creation of this product is to always keep your ideas open so I something starts to go wrong you can easily get back onto it. If I was to do my media product again i would consider perhaps doing a different genre film. Although it was brilliant creating a martial arts film, but despite doing lots of research on it we still really didn’t have a clue what else we could put into it. Plus another genre such as action would be a lot more exciting
