However, in doing so they have created other hazards related to the robots. To minimise the risks associated with these hazards, appropriate training, risk minimisation strategies, guarding and controls must be put in place otherwise the number of injuries to workers will increase. Each robot is programmed to manouver a body panel through a number of movements to align it for the drilling of holes, spreading of sealant and spot welding. An assembly line worker loads and unloads the part from one robot while the other robot works in sequence to transfer the part between a number of work stations. Robots can range in size. Many of the smaller bench top units are hazardous but can be more easilly guarded (for OHS purposes treat in a similar manner to power presses and guillotines ie full surround guard with interlocks).
