Getting started with registering content with Crossref
Crossref allows registration of a variety of scholarly works including journals, books, book chapters, conference proceedings, datasets, dissertations, reports, standards, preprints, and peer reviews. Members can register metadata such as author names, titles, identifiers, reference lists, and funding data. It is important for members to maintain and deposit good quality metadata so readers can always find and access registered content through tools like DOIs and the Crossref search site. Crossref shares metadata with partners to enhance discovery, indexing, and inclusion in citation metrics and discovery services.
Managing errata and retractions with CrossMark
CrossMark is an embedded button that shows publication information selected by publishers, including funding data, ORCs, licenses, and clinical trial information. Over 300 publishers deposit CrossMark metadata for over 3.3 million articles. Around 1% of articles have updates flagged by CrossMark, including over 1,000 retractions. CrossMark provides a convenient way for researchers to easily access the most recent publication information and metadata in one place for citing purposes.

Automated creation of analytic catalog records for born digital journal articles
This presentation will summarize the approach to bibliographic metadata developed at the University of Michigan Library for journal articles published and archived in HathiTrust using the mPach toolset, which allows journal editors to create born-digital open-access journals and create their own metadata as a byproduct of the publishing process. Specifically, mPach allows a journal editor to convert edited manuscripts from common source formats such as Microsoft Word into JATS (Z39.96-2012) XML and embed structured metadata about the article and journal. Since HathiTrust currently uses MARC as its common-denominator metadata format, JATS metadata are automatically mapped to MARC fields, creating one analytic record per article but without normalizing to follow RDA rules for transcription from primary sources of information or creating entries according to name authorities. For each new journal, a serial record for the journal is created manually by a serials cataloger. This serial record and each analytic record for articles in that journal link to a "collection" for the journal built using the HathiTrust Collections feature.

This document summarizes Rafael Richards' presentation on using linked data and semantic web technologies to enable semantic interoperability between health data systems like the VA's VISTA EHR and the HL7 FHIR standard. CrossCheck is a plagiarism detection software launched in 2008 that analyzes text and compares it to a database of content. It is used by over 364 publishers and has indexed over 33.6 million articles. Usage of CrossCheck has increased over time, with more manuscripts being checked and more users finding plagiarized content. CrossRef also launched CrossMark in 2012, a system that provides publication record information and alerts readers to any updates or corrections to content.
Establishing the Connection: Creating a Linked Data Version of the BNB

While Liblime initially only shared certain improvements with paying customers, ByWater Solutions makes all developments openly available. Koha offers libraries an affordable ILS option that can be customized to meet their needs.
