Assist patients with their appointments. Verifies patient upon check-in and screening. Indicate
whether patient is a new patient, has any new allergies, has a history of glaucoma or
have become diabetic since there last visit. Order supplies, answer/direct phone calls and
visitors to appropriate area. Assist nurse with venipuncture for patients with varicose veins
or hard sticks for FA’s. Respond to first aid emergent situations. Assist in resolving
doctor/patient complaints. Assist MAS staff with ordering labs and making laboratory
appointments. As a screen I check patient visual acuity, eye pressure using a tonometer
machine or tono-pen and I auto refract each patient using an autorefractor keratometer. I also
check each patients angles prior to dilation in order for the doctor to give an evaluation of
many eye diseases such as cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and
glaucoma. I inform each patient of why they are being dilated and how long to expect
their pupils to remain dilated. I check each patients vitals prior to surgery. I check patient
prescription on their glasses and I have put in new prescription for new glass orders. I have
performed teleretina on patients. Responsible for making sure crash-cart is not expired,
tampered with and insuring crash-cart is functioning properly daily. I always ensure
patient privacy and information security, follows universal precautions. I always demonstrate
a professional and courteous attitude toward all veterans, their family members, my fellow
employees and affiliates and others that I may come into contact with. Maintain doctors room,
screening room, visual field room, teleretina room, Technician room and TMS room so that it
is neat and clean and ensures supplies/medications are not expired. I ensure minor surgery
room is sterile prior to all to all surgeries. I ensure all supplies and the patient proper
paperwork is ready, prior to doctors arrival in procedure room. I set up sterile field and
have the supplies/ instruments ready prior to patient examination/procedure.
As a Medical Assistant I am very familiar with computers and computer software. I am
2. familiar with Microsoft office, excel, power point and access. I know how to write letters
using the correct format, coordinate meetings, and/or schedule conferences, book keeping,
schedule appointments and I know how to purchase and maintain supplies and equipment.
I have been trained and have access to appointment manager. I am a qualified typist.
As a Tele health Clinical Technician I am able to communicate orally and written with doctors
and put it into layman terms so that the patient can understand. I inform the patient about his
follow-up care and his return to clinic appointment and significance of returning for their
follow-up appointment. When sending patient information via email I ensure I encrypt the
email prior to sending. I adhere to infection control measures by washing my hand between
each patient with antimicrobial soap or an alcohol-based hand rub to help reduce the spread
of disease. I call veterans to remind them of schedule and reschedule appointments due to a
new clinic opening or cancelation of clinics. I know how to schedule patients and enter new
consults via CPRS and Vista system. I am familiar with making sure I document all
encounters with patients’ whether it’s by telephone or in person. I make sure all my notes
and consults have been entered into the system. I make sure all patients’ reminders have
