Editor's Notes
Mental health is defined as a state of well-being in which every individual realizes his or her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to her or his community.
Nearly one in six Hongkongers suffers from anxiety and depression, an interim report sponsored by the Food and Health Bureau shows. Examining the prevalence of mental disorder, the survey aims to poll 5,700 Chinese, aged 16 to 75, of whom 2,500 were interviewed last month.
Mental Health includes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act. Also helps determine how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices.
Our CBL compose of two major actions: survey and health edu.
As our DASS questionnaire is open for the public. The people self-suspect of depression, anxiety and stress are more likely to take part in this questionnaire, therefore, the sampling bias occurs. Together with the small sample size compare with the HKTIHCWG, the extreme cases are more likely to influence our result.
This table shows the DASS survey result regarding different target people. No matter how do our result differ from HKTIHCWG, mental health in tertiary education student is an important issue. Also, mental health promotion should not be limited to people who has diagnosed with mental illness only.
