Three-kingdom protists can be unicellular or pluricellular, but lack tissues. They have eukaryotic cells with organelles in the cytoplasm and are divided into algae and protozoa. Algae are eukaryotic photoautotrophs that live in aquatic environments but are not plants as they lack tissues, stems, roots or leaves. Protozoa are unicellular eukaryotic heterotrophs that live in water, move using flagella or cilia, and can reproduce through binary division, gemmation, or spores, with some being parasites that cause diseases.
