The MELISSA project aims to train teachers in disadvantaged areas of South Africa in ICT skills and integrating technology into teaching. It will assess the impact of ICT training through questionnaires and interviews measuring changes in teachers' perceptions of technology, teaching, and their role in social change. The project hypotheses predict that increased ICT skills will boost computer self-efficacy and teacher self-efficacy, leading to a more internalized sense of control. It will also broaden teachers' understanding of technology and its role in society. Work packages will deliver and refine the ICT curriculum, analyze self-efficacy and locus of control data, and study changes in social meanings through pre- and post-training interviews and analysis.
