Implementing Sustainable Digital Preservationneilgrindley
Ā
There has been a lot of investment and activity in digital preservation over the last decade and a lot of it has been supported by grant funded activity and research projects. The ālearn by doingā approach and the prodigious number of beta systems and project reports have all played their part in helping to mature the digital preservation field - and judging by the changing tone of conferences over the years, the community has come a long way. So far - in fact - that a lot of organisations are now at the stage when theory is less important than action. They need to work out the best implementation paths and make procurement choices.
So the economic landscape for digital preservation has shifted and the onus is now on many organisations to look closely at their needs and their objectives and to make investment choices that are sustainable as part of the business needs of their organisation rather than as an adjunct activity that is supported by āsoftā research money. Work being taken forward by the 4C Project is looking at providing resources to support organisations to make sustainable digital preservation investment choices and this webinar will describe some of that work.
But budgets are hard to secure and digital preservation remains a difficult case to argue so collaboration with like-minded organisations and the establishment of shared services should support the arguments and drive down the cost. This is one of the core messages that underpins the Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation (ANADP) initiative and this will also be described and explained during the webinar.

So, you are an architect. What does this mean? How do you define yourself? Iasa has worked with more than 7,000 architects to create a common definition and understanding of IT Architecture as expressed by five pillars: Business Technology Strategy; Human Dynamics; Quality Attributes; IT Environment; and Design, and to create a common vocabulary to be shared amongst all IT Architects. Iasa has further defined IT Architecture as a profession backed by various levels of certification. This session discussed Iasa's Architectural Foundations material, offering a clear understanding of what IT Architecture is, and who IT Architects are. Watch, learn and validate what 30,000 architects worldwide are now sharing.
Data Innovation Spaces are identified by BDVA as a key instrument to foster the Data-Driven Innovation in Europe. They provide innovation and experimentation environments where companies in their respective ecosystems could have their data-driven and AI-related products and solutions piloted, tested, and exploited before going to the market. BDVA launches every year a process to identify and recognize relevant initiatives in Europe that meet specific quality criteria in infrastructures, services, projects, and sectors of application, ecosystem and sustainability (BDVA i-Spaces call for labels).
During this session, we will present the concept of BDVA i-Spaces (as it is reflected in the BDVA SRIA), the process and steps of i-Spaces labeling, the value proposition of being an i-Space and activities and examples of collaboration. The session will also include examples of first-hand experience from three recognized i-Spaces: ITAINNOVA (DIH Aragon), UPM, and Demokritos NCSR (aheed DIH).

Community Technology Leadership Program pilot kick-offGreg Laudeman
Ā
This presentation provides background, goals, structure, and tools for the Community Technology Leadership Program that Eduity is piloting in Chattanooga, with support from the Mozilla Foundation. Our goal is to create an "open source" that any community can implement.
The paper analyzes the architecture of two regions in South-East Asia namely Kashmir, a state in Northern India, and Bhutan, a country located on the southern slopes of the Eastern Himalayas to challenge the uncritical adoption of values and building techniques associated with Western architecture, often inappropriate for climate and local labor, to question the notion of benefit from the perspective of sustainability. In doing so it seeks to support the cause of vernacular Architecture and also further its incorporation in contemporary sustainable building design.

Elevating Tactical DDD Patterns Through Object CalisthenicsDorra BARTAGUIZ
Ā
After immersing yourself in the blue book and its red counterpart, attending DDD-focused conferences, and applying tactical patterns, you're left with a crucial question: How do I ensure my design is effective? Tactical patterns within Domain-Driven Design (DDD) serve as guiding principles for creating clear and manageable domain models. However, achieving success with these patterns requires additional guidance. Interestingly, we've observed that a set of constraints initially designed for training purposes remarkably aligns with effective pattern implementation, offering a more āmechanicalā approach. Let's explore together how Object Calisthenics can elevate the design of your tactical DDD patterns, offering concrete help for those venturing into DDD for the first time!
