This document summarizes a content analysis of media coverage of the 2008 election. It finds: 1) Coverage on election night and the day after favored Democrats, with more time spent on Democrats and less on Republicans. 2) There were significant differences between networks in coverage of Democrats, with Democrats receiving more airtime, but no difference in coverage of Republicans. 3) Bias was more prominent in segments featuring political partisans than in segments strictly reporting election results.
