8. What is Media 10?
• An overview of mass communications in the
United States and how it has influenced –
and reflected – our perceptions of gender
(men, women, LGBTQ) and race (African
Americans, Asian Americans, Latinos,
Native Americans) and some religion
(Jewish & Muslim).
9. How Media 10 Works?
• Using assigned readings, old newsreels; clips
from movies, radio and television, Social
Media (other resources as needed)
• We will analyze and debate the changes
in media and how it reports/portrays
class, gender and ethnicity.
