Prospect is a monthly magazine focused on current affairs and politics that was launched in 1995 in the UK. The New Statesman is a current affairs magazine from the UK that focuses on political and cultural issues from a liberal perspective. Wired is a monthly American magazine that focuses on emerging technologies and their effects on culture, economics and politics. Time is a bi-weekly American news magazine owned by Time Warner that targets well-educated professionals.
Analysis of house style
House style refers to a company's preferred presentation and layout conventions. This magazine's house style includes:
- The masthead appearing in the top right corner of every cover alongside headlines.
- The main cover image usually depicts a large world event and uses illustrations to convey clear messages and connotations without much text.
- Covers use bold colors and sans serif text for coverlines with serif text reserved for the masthead and main coverline. Images and short, simple text construct representations for readers.
- Contents pages follow the same layout with 3 to 7 small photos relating to concise sans serif headings under a red header matching the masthead style to maintain the magazine's house style across formats.
Proposal for magazine
The proposal outlines a new current affairs magazine aimed at educating and engaging a younger audience between 16-25 years old. The magazine, called "The Happenings", will focus on topics of interest domestically and internationally, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, Black Lives Matter movement, and effects on the economy. It will feature 11 categories in each issue, including sections on world events, politics, business, science and the arts. The first issues in April and June 2020 will highlight the spread of the coronavirus and the BLM movement, respectively.
Intent
My magazine will cover both major global issues and smaller topics from diverse perspectives to represent different social groups and foster understanding. It will target a socially conscious 16-25 demographic and discuss topics like climate change. The magazine will feature representations of many cultures and not adhere to one ideology. The front cover will have a masthead reading "The Happenings" and a photo related to the cover story about COVID-19 and misinformation. Research impacted the plan, leading to including more sections as seen in other magazines and ensuring content appeals to younger audiences. The magazine and website will converge with shared content.

to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.

As well as these, they feature a tab to show previous magazine covers- labelled ‘magazine’ • Subscribe and log in buttons • A lot of images, some photographs and some cartoons, showing what the main headlines are about • The layout of the homepages are all very similar to the magazine's contents page- they seem to follow the same layout and design, keeping with the same colour scheme, the magazines that use cartoon images have continued this on their webpage. • All of the webpages are very organized and easy to read. • The Private Eye also has links to their social media pages, you tube, Instagram, twitter etc.
