The student learned several skills related to photography and image editing through completing a class assignment. They gained hands-on experience using a Canon camera and learned that adjusting the shutter speed controls the amount of light absorbed, affecting image brightness. In Photoshop, the student discovered how to crop images to remove empty space, adjust hue/saturation to make images appear warmer, and enlarge images while maintaining quality. They also became familiar with using Blogger to upload work and SurveyMonkey to create questionnaires for collecting responses.

2. Camera/Lighting a photoshoot
• One thing I didn’t know how to do
before this assignment was how to
effectively work a camera, as this
assignment included a photoshoot I
got a hands on experience with using
our Canon camera. One thing I learned
was how important lighting is to a
photoshoot, I learned that if you
tamper with how long the shutter
takes to close and open again it effects
how much light is absorbed. By trial
and error I realized that if you prolong
the time it takes for the shutter to
close then the camera will absorb
more light creating a brighter image. If
you decrease the time it takes for the
shutter to close then the image will be
darker.

3. Photoshop
• Even though the image may be
taken at a standard that is
appropriate for a magazine you
still need to manipulate the image,
which is what I did through
photoshop. I found out that
adjusting the hue/saturation or
brightness then the image appears
warmer, which is what I had to do
for my image. I also learned how
to effectively crop and enlarge an
image so it is still good quality. I
had to do this because there was a
lot of negative space with my
image so by cropping it, it not only
got rid of the unused space it also
brought my subject more into
focus.

5. Blogger
• In this assignment I also used
blogger to upload my work, I
already had a little experience
in blogging but not in the
detail google blogger allows
you to have in regards with
creating a blog that an
examiner will see. I found this
part quite easy due to the
simplicity of googles signing up
process, I just use my already
existent email and I was ready
to go.

6. Other Improvements
• I also learnt how to use the site
SurveyMonkey. Again this was an
easy process as signing up was a
simple task. They gave you steps on
how to create the prefect
questionnaire and I simply followed
that. There were some things that I
learnt how to do on my own like
how to add comment boxes and
multiple choice questions. I also
leanrt how to use the photo
uploading site Slideshare this again
was simple but I learnt how to
embed images and upload them to
my blog through this site.
