3. Analysis of the text on the front cover
• The first thing that jumps out at me from
looking at the front cover is the masthead. It
takes up almost ¼ of the page and is red and
white (bold colours) it is in the top left hand
corner of the magazine and is in san serif font.
Also on the front cover are 5 cover stories.
These are all in different coloured, sized and
different font types.
4. Analysis of the target group the
magazine is aimed at.
• I think this magazine is aimed to targte both
males and females. I would say the age range
would be targeting 16-25year olds. I think the
front cover fits the target group well as it looks
fresh and modern and also the style of the
magazine suits the target group they are
aiming at.
5. Analysis of the image and headline
• The image on the front cover is of one person-
Lilly Allen, she is striking a dramatic pose by
kicking out at the microphone. She is not looking
into the camera. The image is a very big image
which stands out, it is a long shot. The headline
‘KICKS OUT’ links to the image as she is kicking,
this gives effect as it makes the reader want to
read more as it grabs attention and makes you
wonder why she’s kicking. The background is
plain white and the only thing in focus is the
model, the picture is very sharp and clear.
6. My opinion
• My opinion on this front cover is that i like it
and think it would appeal to the target
audience. I think the simple colours go well
together and i like how the image links to the
headline. Although i do think its rather busy
and there’s a lot going on. There is a lot of
writing which would put me off from picking it
up.
