In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions in media products? My music magazine has many forms and conventions in media products such as the positioning of the headings on my front cover are placed around the main image so that they are still visible and that my main image is still visible. This also goes for the title of my magazine, which is the biggest piece of writing on the page and this is so that this is the first thing the audience view. These are also developed using large and attractive fonts and styles so that they are eye catching to look at and flow through the magazine. Typical forms and conventions of magazines (not only music) are used such as the bar code, the date, the issue number and price have also been placed around my magazine. Not always in the same places as other magazines as I have manipulated some in the style of my music magazine. The layout plays a huge role in following the forms and conventions of a magazine.
How does your media product represent particular social groups? My media product represents particular social groups in a variety of ways. We can see this through their attitude in the photographs of them as well as the clothing they are wearing. The particular social group is working class young teen to mid twenties. Other people may also listen to the type of music of R&B and Hip Hop but it is mostly typical for young teens to listen to it. The models attitude is very strong and we can see from the model I have used that she is very confident about her appearance and this is how artists these days do represent themselves. Which means the particular social group may also represent themselves like this. The clothing also represents the social group she is from as it is very fashionable and again she seems to be comfortable in what she is in and looks very confident and secure about herself. All of these aspects will link in to more of my particular social group reading this magazine.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? The kind of media institution that may distribute my music magazine would perhaps be one such as the Bauer company. This media institution follows my magazine in a variety of ways such as by their magazines including review sections, new albums, new song releases, concert updates for different artists and this is all what would be included in my music magazine as it fits in well. I think this would be a good distributer for my music magazine as it follows the same ideas I have used for my magazine and the criteria that is needed is ideal.
Who would be the audience for your media product? My media music magazine is advertising for the genre of music of R&B, Hip Hop and some Pop mainly composed and made by women . This would mean that the audience for my media product would generally be for young middle class people. Mainly girls and from the ages of around thirteen to twenty five. The audience would largely be for this type, as this is the type of music they usually listen to at the moment and would appeal to them. I came to this conclusion of this audience from the questionnaire I did in the beginning of my media coursework and that is the audience I found which would best like my music magazine. However it can also be for other people who like this type of music and these type of artists not just the audience specified above as that is the audience it would be typically for.
How did you attract/address your audience? I attracted my audience through my magazines, colours, fonts and looking at other music magazines to see how they attract their audiences I could see that camera angles and headlines attract a large amount of audiences so I made sure that every detail in the magazine was eye catching and went well with the type of magazine I was representing as a media product. I also attracted my audience through the way I am presenting my music magazine which was through a blog. This is a good way to attract the audience as it is a simple way of presenting pieces of work at the same time looking professional.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? I have learnt a great deal of new information about technologies from the process of constructing my music magazine. The three main technologies I have learnt about are Photoshop, Prezi and Blog sites. From the start of constructing this media product I had no idea what I was using when I opened Prezi. I now know how to use it to a good standard and this also goes for Photoshop and my Blog in general. I also learnt how to use an SLR camera. From the start of this course I only knew the basic skills of using just a digital camera. By the end of it, I knew how to use a professional SLR camera and many skills needed to compose a good shot for a music magazine. With Photoshop, I learnt how to change colours in magazine and use different effects needed to make the image I had taken look more professional including the sharpening tool, clone tool and many other different tools including light and colour balance in the images.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what have you learnt in the progression from it to the full product? I can say that since my preliminary task, I have learnt a vast amount of new things when making a music magazine which will not only be of use for this magazine but also generally when working with technology. In my preliminary task I only knew how to use Photoshop basically. As you can see by the end of my final task, my abilities of Photoshop had improved greatly and the magazine looked like it was professional rather than created at school like my preliminary task. I have also developed my skills on Prezi and Blogger (as said before) and my camera skills as I have a better judgement on what would be the best type of photograph to compose. Overall, I think my learning abilities of all of the ways my magazine has been created have been improved a lot as we can see through the steps towards my final music magazine.
