Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

2. Keeping ideas in mind
Whilst creating our final piece we had to keep lots of things in
mind from when created our preliminary task, as lots of things
were relevant.
Such as; the importance of filming more than once to make
everything more secure if any errors accrued and re filming If
there errors did accrue. Where the most suitable location was to
film, as while filming our preliminary task was just located at
post 16 and was full of other students accidently interfering with
us when filming. Although this had an advantage because the
lighting around sixth form was the same, but where as filming
our final piece was more complicated.

3. What we have learnt from our
Preliminary
Dealing with problems during our preliminary befitted us when
creating our final piece, because errors that we had made before we
would know not to make.
Such as the issues of filming in a busy
location during our preliminary befitted
us to choose a better location for a final
piece, knowing we wouldn’t get
interfered and interrupted. Therefore
filming in my bedroom, not only for filled
our final piece by setting the mise en
scene but also made it so that we could
control our own background noises and
also therefore there being less, this
turned out to be very important as we
use original sound during editing.

4. Also by having a better location we were also
therefore able to create our own lighting to create the
right tone for our final piece. Although this was a
struggle to make sure every shot had the same
lighting, where as this didn’t accrue in our preliminary
as the lighting was preliminary set the same for u s
as it was in post 16.

5. Filming
Although we still came across with some issues due to filming. As for many
shots we had filmed them more than once, just to be on the same side. So
therefore for editing we had a choice of shots that all would be slightly different
and select the right one that fitted in the sequence the best.
One of our mistakes was that during filming our establishing shot we forgot to
film more than once so therefore we had to go back at the end a re-film as the
camera had been slightly misplaced and therefore wasn’t in the same place
for when the two girls were in shot when coming around the corner. This
taught us to make sure that we filmed each one more than once, because of
having to go back and re-filming it was a struggle to make sure the lighting
was the same as pervious, as we created our own lighting.

6. We created our own lighting by turning my main
bedroom light of and using Charlottes lamp that she
brought in and was placed in the corner of my room,
so therefore the room wasn’t too light or too dark and
also because it was placed at one side of the room it
casted a nice shadow on the let side of the face
which created more of an effect, also by charlotte
bringing in her lamp we was also able to use it as a
prop during our final piece.

7. Another main mistake that we had made in our
preliminary task was that we only filmed the
once, which we learnt from this mistake because
during when I was filming Alisha and Charlotte
walking around at post 16, the clips didn’t quite flow
when putting them in a sequence because we
realised that the one of the footages wasn’t filmed for
long enough and there walking was just cut off and
jumped to the next one, and wasn’t a steady flow. We
learnt from this mistake, which is another reason why
we thought it would be a better idea to film each
piece more than once during filming our final piece.

8. What else did we learn?
Also from filming our preliminary task we also learnt how to use
Adobe Premier CS6, which befitted us because not only was
this software new to us but also we learnt the main important
basics of the editing process, so that when we came to
uploading and editing our final piece, it didn’t take us long to get
everything put into sequence and create a nice flow from one
piece of footage to the next. However in our final piece we also
used different gadgets in this software that we did not use in our
preliminary, but because we was familiar with the software it
wasn’t hard to find and soon pick up.
