“Good SHE Is Good for Business” How many times have we heard that phrase being used? And how many times have we been told that tmoney is not available, or before money is made available to show the return on investment (ROI) for SHE projects? We all know that in reality "production comes first” and without production we would have no employment. This does not mean that employers do not care about the welfare of their employees, but when finances are tight often becomes harder to justify SHE projects.
This presentation addresses some common issues facing the SHE Professional while attempting to integrate the SHE functions into the core business. This includes:
• Identifying and using core business drivers for leverage
• Establishing a vision and Strategy that is aligned with the business direction
• Selling and marketing this vision throughout the organization
• Providing leadership within the organization to create business opportunities
• Building real business metrics and communication strategies
• Measuring and communicating the results

Careful selection is important given the large impact of an ERP system.

How enterprise agility brings the real changeKaty Slemon
Enterprise agility involves adopting agile methodologies across entire organizations rather than just development teams. This allows companies to lower costs, improve customer satisfaction, and increase employee engagement. Some benefits of enterprise agility transformations include improved financial performance for around 65% of companies. Achieving enterprise agility requires adopting agile processes, business models, products/services, operating models, and commerce through techniques like process mining, platform-based models, modular design, and AI-driven pricing. Businesses can bring change through enterprise agility by adopting an agile mindset, hybrid frameworks, cross-functional teams, incorporating agility top-down and bottom-up, shifting testing left, and including agility in metrics and budgets.
The document discusses operational excellence from several perspectives:
- It is defined as a business strategy focused on delivering quality, price, and ease of purchase and service better than competitors.
- Achieving it requires implementing an integrated business execution system with four building blocks: strategy deployment, performance management, process excellence, and high performance work teams.
- Strategy deployment is the process of aligning business strategy with execution, which is often visualized using strategy maps or Hoshin Kanri matrices.
Whether your business is overseeing a financial transaction trade settlements team in an offshore centre of excellence or measuring excessive steam consumption in a multi-site paper mill, organisations that want to stay ahead in competitive markets must have continuous improvement at centre stage of their business transformation agenda.

ERP systems have become essential for businesses operating in today's complex global environment. However, there are several common myths surrounding ERP implementation in Nepal. One myth is that ERP will increase work and procedures, but properly implemented ERP can automate repetitive tasks to make work easier. Another myth is that ERP is too expensive, but customized and affordable ERP solutions are available from local developers. A third myth is that ERP is only for manufacturers, whereas ERP benefits all types of organizations.

It identifies four main sins: 1) Overlooking the purpose of the ERP system and not focusing on process improvements. 2) Lack of commitment from top management. 3) Poor ERP system selection that does not match the organization's needs. 4) Poor project management that shortcuts critical events. The best practices include focusing on process analysis and optimization, securing top management buy-in, thoroughly selecting the right ERP system and partner, and employing sound project management strategies with a cross-functional team.
Technology project executions rank high on CFOs’ most worrisome risks and enterprise resource planning system (ERP) projects are among them. Surveys regularly show that a significant number of strategic ERP projects fail to deliver expected outcomes, are delayed, and exceed budgets by a long shot. While most companies avoid catastrophic ERP failures, only a few wring out the most value. For top management, failing to deliver a strategic priority is rarely an option. Given a mature ERP solutions market place and mostly competent ERP installers, why do organizations frequently stumble?
This document discusses strategies for companies that are ready to upgrade from basic accounting software like QuickBooks to more advanced business management systems. It provides signs that it may be time for an upgrade, such as the current system becoming slow or not having necessary functionality. It then outlines six strategies for a successful upgrade: starting early planning, defining goals, finding the right solution, preparing for e-commerce, choosing a flexible complete system, and developing a strong partner strategy.
This document provides a comprehensive guide for selecting the right competitive intelligence (CI) software solution. It outlines an 11-step process for evaluating solutions, including defining objectives and requirements, identifying stakeholders, assessing technical requirements, data inputs and outputs, workflow, customization options, information access controls, analytics capabilities, seeing solutions demonstrated, and considering pricing. Going through each step is recommended to thoroughly understand needs and find a solution that closely matches existing processes to maximize user adoption and benefits.
This document discusses the strengths and weaknesses of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. It analyzes the high costs of ERP software, implementation, training, and consultants. Several hidden costs are also examined, including integration, customization, data conversion, analysis, and replacement of staff. Common causes of ERP project failures include lack of change management and training, poor planning, underestimating skills and resources. Overall, ERP can integrate financial and customer information, standardize processes, and reduce inventory, but success depends on staff skills and experience with the system.

Logistics refers to activities involved in moving items from one place to another within and between organizations. Supply chain includes logistics but refers more broadly to a network of businesses that work together to deliver a product, and includes additional activities such as marketing, sales, finance, and customer service. While logistics focuses on transportation, supply chain management encompasses all related activities and aims to optimize resources across the entire system to balance business needs and customer service.
Modern procurement makes organizations more profitable through diversifying suppliers, lowering input costs, and improving cash flow. Procurement is no longer just purchasing, but strategically sourcing goods. Organizations now view suppliers as partners integral to success. Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.
zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

2. “Business software providers are regularly asked to provide
a tool to demonstrate ROI (Return on Investment) on the
purchase and implementation of their system.
But there is a cautionary tale to some of these tools…”
Return on Investment
3. “Remember a number of years back when you were sold insurance
and investment policies – the salesperson would reveal graphs on
the 5, 10, 15, 20 year predictions of how your investment would
perform. You also had the choice of high, medium, and low risk, and
each of these had different graph predictions.
All of which was both mind-boggling and very convincing.
And how have those investments actually performed
against the Sales graphs?”
4. There are many factors that will affect your
expectations and influence the actual ROI,
some of these include…
Buying an ERP solution and having someone
predict the ROI you will get from your
investment is pretty much the same.
5. 1.
Without executive buy-in and involvement in
the project, the less likely the staff are to be
fully committed to ensuring the project
delivers on expectations.
6. A number of organizations do not examine their own
IT maturity and end up buying and implementing a
system their organization is not ready for, or is too
complex for their simple processes.
2.
7. 3.
Every company has their unique way of
doing business and NO ONE should tell
them how to run their business. However,
staff can be too intimately involved in the
processes to see the obvious possibilities
of streamlining and eliminating
unnecessary activities.
8. This is something facing all of us and we need to
examine what is currently possible for our organizations
and what we can plan for the future. Whatever your
plans, your business solution should be capturing and
reporting on relevant sustainability information.
4.
9. 5.
Unless your strategy is well accepted and
understood by everyone in your business Value
Chain, it will not flow through to the operational
levels, and will not impact business processes.
This will result in the implementation team only
providing your staff with the tools to deliver on
what they think they need.
10. However, unless the business
objectives that senior
executives expect a new ERP
system to achieve are clearly
defined and understood by all,
it will have very little chance of
proving real benefit.
ERP System
6.
A number of organizations decide to look
for and buy a new system because their old
systems’ licenses are expiring, because
they are dissatisfied with the existing
system, because they have bought another
company, because they have changed their
business – the list is endless.
11. Or the business system and processes?
Or the business system processes and people?
7.
In the book Thinking About ERP it is
explained in great detail that the more you
change, the greater the risk of failure, the
longer the time to deliver, the greater the
costs, but then also the greater the
benefits.
