◻ Put your recommended solution on this slide.
◻ You’ll sometimes see the solution presented at the end of a
presentation,
but at the beginning is better. Why?
⬜ Putting the solution right after the problem makes you
confirm that your
solution actually addresses the problem at hand.
⬜ No surprises. If the audience knows your solution off the
top, the rest of
the deck should walk through how you came to that decision;
it’s easier
for them to follow your line of reasoning.
Executive Summary
4 The executive summary is a single slide that contains the key
points from the
rest of the presentation. The idea is an executive who doesn’t
have time to
sit through your whole presentation can look at this, understand
the problem,
what’s driving the problem, your solution and why it will work.
Do this slide
last, always.

◻ This is a “state of current affairs” slide. It sets up how the
company has
been doing. The next slide (key challenge) highlights why this
needs to
change.
◻ Bullet points on this slide highlight key points about the
company that are
relevant to the business challenge at hand.
◻ Don’t fill with irrelevant information. Remember in most
MBA case
scenarios, you are the consultant, and you’re presenting to the
board. You
don’t need to tell the board what they know about their
business.
Politics and Legal
The South Korean political government is democratic and
divided into
three branches: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial, with the
President being the highest in power. The South Korean
government
is currently turbulent due to the impeachment of President Park
Geun-hye.The legal system is a combination of American law
and
Chinese values.
South Korea is a member of the WTO, in order to remove trade
and
tariff barriers. However, political tensions between South Korea
&
Japan and South Korea & China have caused bilateral trade to
shrink
and embargoes have been put in place by China, due to
retaliation for
the deployment of US defense systems in South Korea.
Economics
The South Korean economy is the 4th largest Asian economy
and
11th globally. The population is approximately 50 million with
a GDP
around $1.8 trillion, 2.6% annual growth, and 3.7%
unemployment
rate.
South Korea faces exceptionally strong labor market
segmentation,
due to a large gap between large firms and SMEs, leaving the
elderly
and younger generations marginalized.
Political tensions between Japan and China have caused exports
to
Japan to decline 10.6%, while imports declined 6.8%.
Social Cultural
Cultural identity factors in to shaping cultural policy.
The government has played a significate role in trying to
establish the cultural identity of the citizens in South
Korea.
South Korea was founded on the principles democracy
and capitlism
: Needs a more diverse economy. They are shifting towards
supporting small businesses and promoting entrepreneurship.
Technology
Technology:South Korea is on the rise to be the next
technological hub as they are currently acquiring the interest of
Apple, Google and
Facebook. Research shows that South Korea has the capacity to
handle the productivity and patent activities. The country has
recently
transformed itself economically and has put more resources into
technology and research development.
It is important for South Korea to promote their technological
efforts and innovation to be competitive due to not having
natural resources to
help build and expand the economy. The country also has
limited resources in manufacturing and agriculture.
South Korea leads the world in its broadband speed and
connectivitiy boasting at 50 megabits per second.
The country is also the home to the World Cyber Games and
largest video game competition.
Their Generation has fueled the start-up scent in mobile gaming
and development as well as social media innovation.

Porter’s five forces and generic strategies, etc.) whichever are
relevant to
your case.
◻ Use also charts, graphs and quotes
◻ Examples on the next two slides can be used, or other
frameworks, as needed for your specific case.

◻ I’ve included some examples on the next few slides of

could use, but there are many many more. Use what makes
sense for the
case you’re doing.

Alternatives should follow the mutually exclusive and
collectively exhaustive
(MECE) principle.
Always list the solution that you came up with third, as it will

mind when you present your implementation plan.

Why? ⬜ Putting the solution right after the problem makes you confirm that your solution actually addresses the problem at hand. ⬜ No surprises. If the audience knows your solution off the top, the rest of the deck should walk through how you came to that decision; it’s easier for them to follow your line of reasoning. The next slide (key challenge) highlights why this needs to change. ◻ Bullet points on this slide highlight key points about the company that are relevant to the business challenge at hand. ◻ Don’t fill with irrelevant information. Remember in most MBA case scenarios, you are the consultant, and you’re presenting to the board. You don’t need to tell the board what they know about their business. The South Korean government is currently turbulent due to the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye.The legal system is a combination of American law and Chinese values. South Korea is a member of the WTO, in order to remove trade and tariff barriers. However, political tensions between South Korea & Japan and South Korea & China have caused bilateral trade to shrink and embargoes have been put in place by China, due to retaliation for the deployment of US defense systems in South Korea. Economics The South Korean economy is the 4th largest Asian economy and 11th globally. The population is approximately 50 million with a GDP
  • 6. around $1.8 trillion, 2.6% annual growth, and 3.7% unemployment rate. South Korea faces exceptionally strong labor market segmentation, due to a large gap between large firms and SMEs, leaving the elderly and younger generations marginalized. Political tensions between Japan and China have caused exports to Japan to decline 10.6%, while imports declined 6.8%. Social Cultural Cultural identity factors in to shaping cultural policy. The government has played a significate role in trying to establish the cultural identity of the citizens in South Korea. South Korea was founded on the principles democracy
  • 7. and capitlism : Needs a more diverse economy. They are shifting towards supporting small businesses and promoting entrepreneurship. Technology Technology:South Korea is on the rise to be the next technological hub as they are currently acquiring the interest of Apple, Google and Facebook. Research shows that South Korea has the capacity to handle the productivity and patent activities. The country has recently transformed itself economically and has put more resources into technology and research development. It is important for South Korea to promote their technological efforts and innovation to be competitive due to not having natural resources to help build and expand the economy. The country also has limited resources in manufacturing and agriculture. South Korea leads the world in its broadband speed and connectivitiy boasting at 50 megabits per second.
  • 8. The country is also the home to the World Cyber Games and largest video game competition. Their Generation has fueled the start-up scent in mobile gaming and development as well as social media innovation. Environment Legal Key Challenge 7 ◻ This slide should show a major challenge the company is facing. ◻ Use a chart to show the key challenge, which could be many things.

COMPANY ANALYSIS 12 This Section 13 The company analysis section should show where the company is setup to meet the challenge and where they’re not. ◻ Use standard industry analysis frameworks that apply to your situation (SWOT, product life cycle, value chain, resources and capabilities, financial ratios, Ansoff Matrix, etc.) ◻ Use also charts, graphs and quotes ◻ I’ve included some examples on the next few slides of frameworks you

Grant. You don’t need to use it, but it’s one way to show key success factors in the problem you’re solving. The data in the cells are example only to illustrate how the framework can be used. Always list the solution that you came up with third, as it will then be top of mind when you present your implementation plan.
