Please fill the attached Self-Assessment Surveys (TWO) and
calculate your score according to the instruction after each
survey. These are personal assessments and I want you to be as
honest as possible, rather than worry about what I am going to
think.
1. AM I A DELIBERATE DECISION MAKER?
Indicate to what extent the following statements describe you
when you make decisions.
1 = to a very little extent; 2 = to a little extent; 3 = somewhat; 4
= to a large extent; 5 = to a very large extent

1. I jump into things without thinking.
2. I make rash decisions.
3. I like to act on a whim.
4. I rush into things.
5. I don’t know why I do some of the things I do.
6. I act quickly without thinking.
7. I choose my words with care.
Instructions:
To score the measure, first reverse-code items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and
6. So that 1=5, 2=4, 3=3, 4=2, and 5=1. Then compute the sum
of the 7 items. Scores will range from 7 to 35.
Interpretation
People differ in how they make decisions. Some people prefer
to collect information, carefully weigh alternatives, and then
select the best option, while others prefer to make a choice as
quickly as possible.
This scale assesses how deliberate you are when making
decisions. If you scored at or above 28, you tend to be quite
deliberate. If you scored at or below 14, you tend to be rash.
Scores between 14 and 27 reveal a more blended style of
decision making.
How should decisions be made? The rational model states that
individuals should define the problem, identify what criteria are
relevant to making the decision and weigh those criteria
according to importance, develop alternatives, and finally
evaluate and select the best alternative. Though this sounds like
an arduous process, research has shown that the rational model
tends to result in better decisions.
Interestingly, personality is related to a person’s decision-
making style. Individuals who are deliberate and decisive tend
to be high in emotional stability and high in conscientiousness,
while individuals who are more impulsive tend to be low on
these two traits. Thus, while your decision-making style is
likely to be somewhat stable, following the rational model
should help you to avoid making rash decisions.
2. HOW CREATIVE AM I?
Review the 30 adjectives that follow. Being honest and
forthright with your answers, identify only those items that
accurately describe you.
1. Affected
2. Capable
3. Cautious
4. Clever
5. Commonplace
6. Confident
7. Conservative
8. Conventional
9. Dissatisfied
10. Egotistical
11. Honest
12. Humorous
13. Individualistic
14. Informal
15. Insightful
16. Intelligent
17. Inventive
18. Mannerly
19. Narrow Interests
20. Original
21. Reflective
22. Resourceful
23. Self-confident
24. Sexy
25. Sincere
26. Snobbish
27. Submissive
28. Suspicious
29. Unconventional
30. Wide Interests
Instructions:
The score was calculated by adding 1 point if you described
yourself using items 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21,
22, 23, 24, 26, 29, and 30. 1 point was subtracted for any of the
remaining items which you said accurately described you.
Interpretation
Creativity is the ability to combine ideas in a unique way or to
make unusual associations between ideas. A creative person
develops novel approaches to doing their work or unique
solutions to problems.
This questionnaire was developed to identify creative talent and
potential. It has been widely used and replicated. It is composed
of 30 items – 18 of which have been found to be positively
associated with creativity, and 12 that are negatively correlated.
Your score will range -12 and +18. The higher your positive
score, the more you display characteristics associated with a
creative personality.
For managers, creativity is useful in decision making. It helps
them to see problems and alternatives that others might not. All
jobs, of course, don’t require high creativity. And highly
creative individuals, when faced with routine and structured
jobs, often became frustrated and dissatisfied. If you score high
on creativity, you should ideally seek a job that will provide
you with a creative outlet. If that’s not possible, utilize your
free time to develop hobbies and interests that can satisfy you
need for creative expression.
Essay 1- Attitudes and Job Satisfaction
Employee surveys came back at the end of the year, and your
scores have dipped. You haven’t experienced any real turnover
yet, but you want to prevent that from happening.
Application:
Summarize the causes of job satisfaction. Describe a scenario
(making up any details you may need) in which your department
falls short. In the role of a manager, plan how you might
improve job satisfaction for your employees.

Essay Writing Rules:
Analysis of real-world issues is a critical part of this class and
effective writing is essential for success in the business world.
During the semester you will be asked to write 4 short-writing
essays. They are concerning real world issues that are relevant
to the material covered in class. The instructions of essays are
available on D2L and the due dates are listed in your schedule
table as well as on D2L.
Each submission should be 2-4 pages long. When writing these
essays, please refer to the fatal writing flaws included below.
Late papers will never be accepted. You have plenty of warning
on when the papers are due, so take into the account the
possibility of an emergency and get it done early. For example,
your internet being down at the time it is due is NOT a valid
excuse. Each essay carries 15 points and only 3 best will be
counted into your final grade. Fatal Writing Flaws
In grading writing submissions, when the “fifth” of any
combination of the “flaws” listed below is reached, your paper
will be returned with a failing grade. You are strongly
encouraged to use the ReWrite Connection on campus to help
prevent committing these writing mistakes.
1. Subject/Verb Agreement
2. Rambling/Run-On Sentences
3. Grammatical Errors
4. Poor Sentence Structure
5. Pervasive Spelling Errors (more than a couple typos)
6. Informal or Inappropriate Language
7. No Conclusion
Essay 2- Motivation
Imagine you are a looking for a new job. You are a recent
college graduate with a lifelong love of literature, animals, and
sports. You have never had much interest in sales, math, or
science.
You have received three job offers. One is as a part-time local
sports writer for a small newspaper with low pay and no
benefits, one is as a full-time sales representative for a
decorative fixtures distributor with high pay and excellent
benefits, and one is as a full-time clerical assistant for a
correspondence college with moderate pay and average benefits.
Discuss which job you would choose and describe the
motivation theories that best support the reasons for your
decision. Discuss at least three motivation theories in your
response.

Essay 3- Find & Define A Leader
· Choose a leader from your own experiences, your community,
the news, etc.
· Select at least one of the leadership theories discussed in the
chapter and use it to describe that leader
· For example, you could describe President Kennedy using
charismatic leadership theory
· I would prefer someone from your own work experiences or
daily life so that we can see how leadership plays out in "real"
life, but if you do not have much experience with different
kinds of leaders, you may choose a well-known business leader
· Submit a 2-page paper to eLearning
Suggested formatting:
· ¼ page – introduction to the overall paper – its object, what
you will discuss, etc.
· ¼ page – introduction to the leadership theory you are going
to use
· 1 page – listing examples why you think your leader is
applying to that theory
· ¼ - listing out the potential advantages and disadvantages of
this kind of leader
· ¼ page – conclusion to the overall paper – wrap up what you
have discussed.

Essay 4- Introvert Leaders
When people think of a stereotypical leader, they often conjure
up the image of a dynamic public speaker, a forceful and
dominant personality, and someone who can cultivate
relationships with a broad number of people. These are all
hallmarks of the extroverted personality type, so it’s often been
the case that extroverts rise to leadership positions more readily
than introverts.
However, some question whether the social dominance and
ability to command attention shown by extraverts might make
them less effective leaders in certain ways. In particular,
extroverts may be less likely to take advice from followers. One
study investigated how quickly groups of college students could
fold shirts in 10 minutes. Each group had a leader who was cued
to be either extroverted or introverted. The introverted leaders
took more advice from their proactive followers, and this led
the groups with introverted leaders to be more effective. Thus,
even though there are cases where introverts are less successful
as leaders, in some conditions, they are more effective. Others
note that introverted leaders can be better than extroverts at
one-on-one interactions, empathy, and deliberate decision
making.
Are there business executives who break the extroverted leader
mold? One successful introvert is Google co-founder Larry
Page, well known for developing a small number of close
relationships and being an excellent chief. Colgate-Palmolive
CEO Ian Cook might feel uncomfortable in front of large groups
of people he doesn’t know, but he has learned to partner with
more extroverted colleagues for presentations to offset his
natural shyness.
CEO Mike Duke is famously low-key and reserved, but he has
utilized his natural introvert skills of managing details and
engineering solutions to maintain the retail giant’s dominant
market position. These examples show that although extroverts
might get all the attention, introverts can still make effective
leaders.
Assignment:
In an essay, respond to the following questions in any order you
choose:
· In which kinds of situations do you think extraverts make
more effective leaders than introverts? What unique introvert
trait could make the extraverts more effective in those same
situations?
· In which kinds of situations do you think introverts make more
effective leaders than extraverts? What unique extravert trait
could make the introverts more effective in those same
situations?
· Are you more of an introverted or extraverted leader? What
kind of changes can you make to take advantage of
characteristics of the “other” style — whether it is extraversion
or introversion? Which of your natural traits should you work to
solidify and strengthen?
· Who is your favorite business leader? How would you describe
this person’s style? What elements from this person can you
“borrow” to improve your own leadership abilities? Explain.
Use of first person voice is appropriate for this assignment.
Please remember to be clear and concise while demonstrating an
understanding of chapter themes and concepts in your response.

Please fill the attached Self-Assessment Surveys (TWO) and calcula.docx

  • 1. Please fill the attached Self-Assessment Surveys (TWO) and calculate your score according to the instruction after each survey. These are personal assessments and I want you to be as honest as possible, rather than worry about what I am going to think. 1. AM I A DELIBERATE DECISION MAKER? Indicate to what extent the following statements describe you when you make decisions. 1 = to a very little extent; 2 = to a little extent; 3 = somewhat; 4 = to a large extent; 5 = to a very large extent 1 2 3 4 5 1. I jump into things without thinking. 2. I make rash decisions. 3. I like to act on a whim.
  • 2. 4. I rush into things. 5. I don’t know why I do some of the things I do. 6. I act quickly without thinking. 7. I choose my words with care. Instructions: To score the measure, first reverse-code items 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. So that 1=5, 2=4, 3=3, 4=2, and 5=1. Then compute the sum of the 7 items. Scores will range from 7 to 35. Interpretation People differ in how they make decisions. Some people prefer to collect information, carefully weigh alternatives, and then select the best option, while others prefer to make a choice as quickly as possible. This scale assesses how deliberate you are when making decisions. If you scored at or above 28, you tend to be quite
  • 3. deliberate. If you scored at or below 14, you tend to be rash. Scores between 14 and 27 reveal a more blended style of decision making. How should decisions be made? The rational model states that individuals should define the problem, identify what criteria are relevant to making the decision and weigh those criteria according to importance, develop alternatives, and finally evaluate and select the best alternative. Though this sounds like an arduous process, research has shown that the rational model tends to result in better decisions. Interestingly, personality is related to a person’s decision- making style. Individuals who are deliberate and decisive tend to be high in emotional stability and high in conscientiousness, while individuals who are more impulsive tend to be low on these two traits. Thus, while your decision-making style is likely to be somewhat stable, following the rational model should help you to avoid making rash decisions. 2. HOW CREATIVE AM I? Review the 30 adjectives that follow. Being honest and forthright with your answers, identify only those items that accurately describe you. 1. Affected 2. Capable 3. Cautious 4. Clever 5. Commonplace 6. Confident 7. Conservative
  • 4. 8. Conventional 9. Dissatisfied 10. Egotistical 11. Honest 12. Humorous 13. Individualistic 14. Informal 15. Insightful 16. Intelligent 17. Inventive 18. Mannerly 19. Narrow Interests 20. Original 21. Reflective 22. Resourceful 23. Self-confident 24. Sexy 25. Sincere
  • 5. 26. Snobbish 27. Submissive 28. Suspicious 29. Unconventional 30. Wide Interests Instructions: The score was calculated by adding 1 point if you described yourself using items 2, 4, 6, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26, 29, and 30. 1 point was subtracted for any of the remaining items which you said accurately described you. Interpretation Creativity is the ability to combine ideas in a unique way or to make unusual associations between ideas. A creative person develops novel approaches to doing their work or unique solutions to problems. This questionnaire was developed to identify creative talent and potential. It has been widely used and replicated. It is composed of 30 items – 18 of which have been found to be positively associated with creativity, and 12 that are negatively correlated. Your score will range -12 and +18. The higher your positive score, the more you display characteristics associated with a creative personality. For managers, creativity is useful in decision making. It helps them to see problems and alternatives that others might not. All jobs, of course, don’t require high creativity. And highly creative individuals, when faced with routine and structured jobs, often became frustrated and dissatisfied. If you score high on creativity, you should ideally seek a job that will provide you with a creative outlet. If that’s not possible, utilize your free time to develop hobbies and interests that can satisfy you
  • 6. need for creative expression. Essay 1- Attitudes and Job Satisfaction Employee surveys came back at the end of the year, and your scores have dipped. In the role of a manager, plan how you might improve job satisfaction for your employees. _____________________________________________________ ________________________ Essay Writing Rules: Analysis of real-world issues is a critical part of this class and effective writing is essential for success in the business world. No Conclusion Essay 4- Introvert Leaders When people think of a stereotypical leader, they often conjure up the image of a dynamic public speaker, a forceful and dominant personality, and someone who can cultivate relationships with a broad number of people. These are all hallmarks of the extroverted personality type, so it’s often been the case that extroverts rise to leadership positions more readily than introverts. However, some question whether the social dominance and ability to command attention shown by extraverts might make them less effective leaders in certain ways. In particular, extroverts may be less likely to take advice from followers. One study investigated how quickly groups of college students could fold shirts in 10 minutes. Each group had a leader who was cued to be either extroverted or introverted. The introverted leaders took more advice from their proactive followers, and this led the groups with introverted leaders to be more effective. Thus, even though there are cases where introverts are less successful as leaders, in some conditions, they are more effective. Others note that introverted leaders can be better than extroverts at one-on-one interactions, empathy, and deliberate decision making.
  • 12. Are there business executives who break the extroverted leader mold? One successful introvert is Google co-founder Larry Page, well known for developing a small number of close relationships and being an excellent chief. Colgate-Palmolive CEO Ian Cook might feel uncomfortable in front of large groups of people he doesn’t know, but he has learned to partner with more extroverted colleagues for presentations to offset his natural shyness. CEO Mike Duke is famously low-key and reserved, but he has utilized his natural introvert skills of managing details and engineering solutions to maintain the retail giant’s dominant market position. These examples show that although extroverts might get all the attention, introverts can still make effective leaders. Assignment: In an essay, respond to the following questions in any order you choose: · In which kinds of situations do you think extraverts make more effective leaders than introverts? What unique introvert trait could make the extraverts more effective in those same situations? · In which kinds of situations do you think introverts make more effective leaders than extraverts? What unique extravert trait could make the introverts more effective in those same situations? · Are you more of an introverted or extraverted leader? What kind of changes can you make to take advantage of characteristics of the “other” style — whether it is extraversion or introversion? Which of your natural traits should you work to solidify and strengthen?
  • 13. · Who is your favorite business leader? How would you describe this person’s style? What elements from this person can you “borrow” to improve your own leadership abilities? Explain. Use of first person voice is appropriate for this assignment. Please remember to be clear and concise while demonstrating an understanding of chapter themes and concepts in your response. _____________________________________________________ ________________________ Essay Writing Rules: Analysis of real-world issues is a critical part of this class and effective writing is essential for success in the business world.
