"Cosa è il Systems Engineering" (presentation in Italian): one lesson of my course "Introduction to Systems Engineering Management" in the frame of the 2013-2014 Master in Systems Engineering at University of Tor Vergata in Rome.
My short course on the TICE methodology at the Master in Satellites and Orbiting Platforms, University of Rome, "La Spaienza", 31 March - 1 April 2016.
Design for X: Exploring Product Design with Apache Spark and GraphLabAmanda Casari
Ideas for designing data science products for: bots, knowledge gaps, IOT + fairness. Combining elements from Apache Spark and Turi's GraphLab products.
This document appears to be notes from a meeting about marketing on the iPhone. It discusses various marketing strategies and challenges, including beef jerky, fake people, chocolate, and email as marketing topics. It also discusses the social mapping service Loopt, how to measure user adoption and feedback, why the company chose Flurry for analytics, avoiding becoming a "zombie app" on the App Store, Digital Chocolate's games and disruption of the App Store, the importance of instrumentation and metrics for success, and why Flurry was chosen for its dashboard and mobile experience. The document concludes with a note about a panel Q&A session.
A Networked Insights webinar, originally delivered on 1/19/11, that demonstrates the power of social data to create media buying efficiencies of 10% or more.
Geared for agency media planners and buyers and brand marketers. Uses examples from AMC's hit show "The Walking Dead," showing how to leverage highly engaged shows to optimize media spend and maximize synergies between paid, owned, and earned assets.
The document discusses the use of second screens (mobile devices) for audience engagement with television content. It provides examples of how second screens are used, such as with the Shazam app to identify songs on TV and access additional information. Transmedia storytelling across TV shows and their online extensions, like with The Walking Dead franchise, is also discussed. The document concludes that TV networks and producers must understand viewer habits involving second screens to develop effective strategies that promote loyalty and generate new revenue streams through higher audience engagement.
The document provides 5 recommendations for improving the social media marketing strategy for The Walking Dead television show: 1) Add a social media ticker displaying tweets during commercial breaks, 2) Grow the Twitter following which lags behind Facebook likes, 3) Make episodes available to purchase online sooner to reduce piracy, 4) Begin selectively responding to Facebook posts to encourage engagement, and 5) Continue consistent social media efforts as long as the show remains popular.
The Walking Dead is a popular zombie TV show that airs on AMC from October to March each year. It is based on a comic book series of the same name. The show follows sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes and a group of survivors as they try to survive in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. It uses gritty cinematography and realistic gore to immerse viewers in its zombie horror world and explore human morality in extreme situations.

Maybe you think a having a strong brand is enough – but it’s not. Not only do you have to understand what your brand really is (not just what you want it to be), you have to figure out what your brand, and only your brand, delivers to the marketplace. Without that secure base? Your brand is the walking dead.

Corso Ottimizzazione Strutturale Sapienza 2015StroNGER2012

"High positioning accuracy and precise time transfer with PPP GNSS receivers"Marco Lisi
This document discusses recent developments in GNSS technologies that enable high-accuracy positioning capabilities. It describes how real-time kinematic (RTK) and precise point positioning (PPP) techniques can provide positioning accuracy at the centimeter-level. It also discusses how systems like Galileo are working to provide free high-accuracy services to all users. Finally, it outlines how new multi-constellation, dual-frequency GNSS receivers will enable centimeter-level accuracy for mass market applications like smartphones.
"Performance Specification of Active Antenna Systems"Marco Lisi
This document discusses the specification and testing of active antenna systems (AAS). It begins by defining what constitutes an AAS and provides some key examples of AAS applications. It then discusses the history of defining performance specifications for AAS, including early work by IEEE and ESA. Specifying factors for AAS includes effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP), gain over system temperature (G/T) ratio, and other system-level metrics. The document also outlines challenges in testing AAS and different proposed methods, including conducted tests and over-the-air radiated tests.
The document discusses performance specifications for active antenna systems (AAS). It notes that AAS have gained increasing interest and usage for both space and ground applications. Testing of complex, high frequency AAS used for 4G/5G has raised new issues around conducted versus over-the-air testing. It suggests a wise approach is a combination of conducted and OTA testing, combined with analysis, depending on the project phase. The advent of massive MIMO antennas for 5G applications has further driven interest and challenges in AAS specification and testing.

Galileo is Europe's initiative for a global satellite navigation system providing precise positioning under civilian control. It will be interoperable with GPS and GLONASS, consisting of 30 satellites plus spares when complete. Precise timing from Galileo's onboard atomic clocks, accurate to 1 second every 3 million years, will support applications like power grids, financial networks, UAVs, autonomous vehicles, and emergency response.
An Introduction to Service Systems Engineering (SSE)Marco Lisi
- The document provides an introduction to service systems engineering (SSE) and discusses the transition to a service-based economy.
- Key points made include that services are becoming more important, service systems are often critical infrastructure, and engineering such systems requires a holistic and customer-focused approach.
- The document contrasts a traditional product focus with the new perspective of focusing on capabilities and services provided through complex, technology-enabled systems.

Satellite Link Budget_Course_Sofia_2017_LisiMarco Lisi
This document provides an introduction and overview of satellite link budgets. It begins with definitions of key terms used in link budgets such as antenna directivity, gain, effective isotropic radiated power (EIRP), free space path loss, noise figure, and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). It then explains the Friis transmission equation and how it is used to calculate the received power in a satellite link. Additional factors that impact the link budget are also covered such as atmospheric losses, antenna noise temperature, and modulation schemes. The document concludes by outlining the procedure for calculating an example satellite downlink budget.
"Initial Services", the new phase of the Galileo programMarco Lisi
The Galileo satellite navigation system declared its "Initial Services" operational in December 2016. This marked the beginning of Galileo providing positioning, navigation, and timing services to European and global users, though with limited capabilities due to an incomplete satellite constellation. The "Initial Services" include open services with global availability, as well as search and rescue services. While performance is lower than when Galileo is complete, the initial services provide immediate benefits to users and open the door to important regulated services in Europe. The declaration of initial services confirms the strategic and technological value of the Galileo program for Europe.

A COMMUNICATIONS AND PNT INTEGRATED NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THE MOON VILLAGEMarco Lisi
This document discusses proposals for establishing a communications and navigation network to support human and robotic exploration of the Moon. It summarizes past ESA studies on using GPS and developing lunar navigation and communication satellites. It then proposes a modular, expandable approach using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies like LTE and the forthcoming 5G standard. This COTS-based lunar network would provide reliable communication and navigation services to support colonization of the Moon and Mars through permanent base stations. It would satisfy requirements for performance, reliability, affordability and sustainability by leveraging commercial technologies and allowing incremental expansion over time.

1. Cosa è il
“Systems Engineering”
Dr. ing. Marco Lisi
Master di II Livello in "Systems Engineering"
Università degli Studi di Roma Tor Vergata
Anno Accademico 2013‐2014
Page 1
“project manager” o “chief engineer” responsabile dello
“decision analysis”
ottimali.
Sebbene il processo di “Project Management” e
quello di “Systems Engineering” abbiano alcuni
importanti punti in comune, in quest’ultimo
quantitativo,
che
include
“trade‐off’s”,
ottimizzazione, selezione ed integrazione dei
prodotti di molte discipline ingegneristiche.
Page 9
10. Due definizioni “ufficiali”
"Systems Engineering is an interdisciplinary approach and means to
enable the realization of successful systems. It focuses on defining
customer needs and required functionality early in the development
cycle, documenting requirements, then proceeding with design
synthesis and system validation while considering the complete
problem: Operations, Performance, Test, Manufacturing, Cost &
Schedule, Training & Support, and Disposal."
International Council On Systems Engineering (INCOSE)
"An interdisciplinary approach encompassing the entire technical
effort to evolve and verify an integrated and life-cycle balanced set of
system people, product and process solutions that satisfy customer
needs."
