Consulted with company Presidents, Vice Presidents and Directors in the areas of short and long term planning,
alignment, process improvement and knowledge management resulting in improved alignment, productivity,
setting & reaching goals improving bottom line.
Implemented a top-down TQM training program using Kodak’s Quality Leadership Process to which I added
various TQM tools and techniques. Provided consulting and facilitation support to apply TQM leading to an
empowered workforce and major process improvements resulting in 25% reduction in operational expenses.
Lead various teams through organizational alignment, reorganizations, redesigns, and processes improvement
efforts, many global in nature, resulting in value-adding improvements for the organization as a whole.
New Business / Department Start Ups
Startup Biotechnology Company: Set up and managed QC Department and coordinated the setup of the Safety
Program. Assumed responsibility of a floundering Customer Sequencing and Cloning Department for successful
resolution of customer contracts. Progressed from technician to Director position. Self-taught in the field of
molecular biology.
Led design teams through the development of a Corporate University to consolidate and focus training in the
company and an Information Protection Advisory Council providing new services required by the organization.
Writing, Speaking, Teaching and Coaching
Author of the book, The Savvy Patient’s Toolkit. Developed and taught an eight-hour course based on the book,
delivered in person and via an online audio course I created.
Coached people one-on-one on how to become savvier patients and / or advocates for another
Set up three websites: Book, Savvy Patient School and Savvy Patient Blog
Speaker to a wide variety of groups and organizations; local, regional and national conferences including a
Professional Patient Advocate Conference.
The Savvy Patient’s Toolkit was used as a required text in the nursing curriculum at King College.
Through the above I inspired people to change the way they think about their healthcare, take on a shared
responsibility for and partner in their care resulting in better care,outcomes and prevention of medical mishaps.
