University resources can support K-12 global learning through National Resource Centers (NRCs) and Language Resource Centers (LRCs) funded by the US Department of Education. NRCs and LRCs provide professional development for teachers, develop standards-aligned materials, and offer general outreach services like speakers and libraries. Teachers can search the Department of Education website or other portals to find NRCs and LRCs supporting their desired language or world region. For example, Tulane University partners with other universities to offer a summer film institute on Latin America for high school teachers.

Sample Programs Summer Teacher Institute Through the Lens: Teaching about Latin America through Film June 5th, 2011 - June 10th, 2011 Millsaps College, Jackson, Mississippi The Latin American Resource Center and Vanderbilt’s Center for Latin American Studies will collaborated to offer a week-long institute on Latin America for high school teachers. The institute was held on the campus of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. Teachers studied different aspects of Latin America through feature films and documentaries with specialized faculty from Tulane, Vanderbilt, and Millsaps. Enriching their knowledge of Latin America, teaches developed curricula for increased coverage of Latin America in their school.
