Secondary data can be outdated, collected for different purposes making it biased, and use different samples or methodologies than needed. However, it is less expensive and time saving than primary data, helps train researchers, and provides larger databases. Exploratory research does not directly lead to decisions while conclusive research does lead to major decisions. Qualitative techniques include experiments and test marketing which provide additional inputs about validity but also have disadvantages.
