The final year project involved upgrading and retrofitting the Building and Civil Engineering Department at GMIT. The project focused on improving sustainability and energy performance. Specifically, improving the building envelope through high-performing materials and increased air tightness to enhance energy efficiency. The proposed design included a new first floor plan layout, exterior cladding materials like vertical larch and fiber cement panels, and triple-glazed windows. Disability access and fire safety were also considered in the plan.
