The Marina Barrage is a dam built across the Marina Channel in Singapore to create the country's 15th and first inner-city reservoir, the Marina Reservoir. It helps boost Singapore's water catchment area to two-thirds of the country's land area and meets over 10% of Singapore's current water demand. It also serves as a flood control system and lifestyle attraction for recreational activities. The Barrage was envisioned by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew and implements green principles in its design and operations.
