 Daughter of Maria Theresa, arch-duchess of Austria
  and Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor.
 Fifteenth child of sixteen
 Did not study specific academics
 Spent days surrounded by music, dancing, comedic
  theatre, and animals

Becoming Queen
              
 Arranged marriage to marry Louis XVI, made by
  Louis XV
 Married oldest son of the King of France
 Wedding occurred on May 16, 1770 at the Royal
  Chapel in Versailles
 Marie was only 14 years old
 Louis XV died of smallpox on May 10, 1774, making
  Marie queen.

 Peasants felt so much power that they stormed
  Versailles, forcing the royal family to move
 Louis, Marie, and their family fled Paris, but were
  captured by authorities and imprisoned.

Final Years
                  
 September of 1791- Louis agreed to create a French
  Constitution
 Marie attempted to convince Austria to intercede on
  the French monarchy’s behalf
 Resulted in National Assembly charging Louis with
  treason
 Louis was killed on January 21, 1793 and Marie
  became a widow
