• Marie Antoinette was born
on November 2 1755.
• She ruled France with her
husband Louis XVI from
1744.
• She married King Louis XVI
at the age of 14 .
• She died on the 16 October
1793 at the guillotine at the
age of 37 .

• Bankruptcy , the king and his wife

general
• On 5 May 1789 the king
called the estate-general to
discuss the political crisis in
France.
• The clergy and noble could
vote however the third
estate could not vote and
were unhappy.
7. The tennis court

• On 20 June 1789 the third
estate had a national
assembly near a tennis court
• They wanted equal voting
rights and a new constitution
• The lower ranking members
of the clergy and nobility
joined the third estate
• This was a success and the
third estate could vote

the Bastille
• On 14 July 1789 the Bastille
was attacked by the third
estate
• The Bastille was a prison
that was a symbol of the
monarchs power therefore
the third estate attacked
the bastille to show their
frustration because the
King did not listen to their
demands .

• On 5 October 1789 a crowd
of angry women went to
the palace of Versailles
demanding bread and that
the king make political
reforms because their
families were starving and
the price of bread was
unaffordable .

document ensured equal
rights for French citizens .
