Computer graphics has wide range of applications which are implemented into computer animation,
computer modeling e.t.c. Since the invention of computer graphics researchers haven’t paid much of
attentions toward the possibility of converting oral tales otherwise known as folktales into possible cartoon
animated videos. This paper is based on how to develop cartoons of local folktales that will be of huge
benefits to Nigerians. The activities were divided into 5 stages; analysis, design, development,
implementation and evaluation which involved various processes and use of various specialized software
and hardware. After the implementation of this project, the video characteristics were evaluated using
likert scale. Analysis of 30 user responses indicated that 17 users (56.7%) rated the image quality as

BACK TO THE FUTURE
Welcome to the GAETSS August 2016 E-Newsletter. I have given this newsletter a “BACK TO THE FUTURE” title because so many of the pieces included this month have a historical context, especially the archived “Radio with Pictures Show” recordings which, considering that they were produced 14 years ago, would still be regarded today as pushing the boundaries of communication technology in the seamless combination of radio, telephony and web conferencing.
This mail version of the Newsletter is a text only version and I recommend viewing the full version of the newsletter at http://www.davidwortley.com/16-08%20GAETSS%20Newsletter.pdf

Length: 2 pages. (500-750 words)
Area of interest in digital media.
-computational arts.
I did a mix media group exhibition in Feb. 2018 called What Makes You You. Half of my show is a sculpture-based installation. The other half is an interactive digital programed art(using Processing software). The visual of human evolution ties these two park together. See details at https://dongpu.weebly.com/what-makes-you-you.html
-short videos (documentary production).
I love shooting short videos. I formed a Youtube team called 2037 Club last year. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmtUQfDMvL9iE8IOy9oshSA
The latest documentary I did is called Liang(Grain). Video Statement:This documentary discovers the Chinese planned economy history period, which starts at the 1950s. People were given a certain amount of coupons to buy food and daily needs because of the limitation of products. Since this is a historical theme, reference images are included to support the concept of buying food today and before 1990. Other than that, the visuals are mainly about common people’s daily routine nowadays. Along with the visual, the most artistic part in this video is Shanghainese dialogue, which explained food coupons in the way of storytelling. “I accidentally found many food coupons in my grandparents’ house this summer, so I went to ask them about the experiences they had with these coupons. My curiosity leads me to the theme.” said by the producer.
This particular video also has a different meaning to me. My Grandmother passed away one week before the video published at the film festival (at Scottsdale Museum of Commemoratory Art). This piece becomes memorable to me, sadly, my grandmother never had a chance to see the whole piece.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

c. Abstraction ANIMATION
- Animation is a method by which still figures
are manipulated to appear as moving images.
In traditional animation, images are drawn or
painted by hand on transparent celluloid
sheets to be photographed and exhibited on
film. Today, many animations are made with
computer-generated imagery (CGI).
- In recent decades, a whole new career
opportunity emerged for creative Filipinos via
the field of animation. In fact, Filipino
animators have been involved in the creation
of some the best-loved- and technically
challenging- animated features films produced
in the last few years. Among these are Toy
Story, Up, The Incredibles, Monster
University, Cars, Finding Nemo, Planes,
Brave, Sherk, Kung Fu Panda, and more.
Such recognition of Philippines talent abroad
has, in fact, spurred the development of the
local animation industry as well.
Animation Council of the Philippines
3. - The Animation Council of the Philippines,
Inc. (ACPI) is a non-profit organization that
aims to create an identity for the Philippines
within animation industry, making it one of
the preferred sources for animation services
worldwide. The organization works hand in
participating colleges and universities, the
Technical Educational and skills Development
Authority (TESDA) and other promising career
options for Filipinos. In 2013, TESDA and
ACPI began offering 2D and 3D Animation
Scholarships to interested high school
graduates, between the ages of 18 and 45.
The showpiece of the
ACPI is Animahensayon, an annual festival and
competition featuring the works of Filipino
animators. Apart from this major project, the ACPI
grants the annual "Outstanding Emerging Artist in
Animation Award" for outstanding young and fast-
rising cartoonists and animators in the country. It
also confers the Animahenasyon's "Lifetime
Achieve- ment Award" on notable animators and
other contributors to the Philippine animation
industry.
Philippine Animation Studio, Inc.
The Philippine Animation Studio, Inc. (PASI) was
established in 1991 and has since collaborated on
numerous animation projects and series with foreign
partners. Among these have been Captain Flamingo,
Producing Parker, Groove High, and Space Heroes
Universe. For this last cartoon, PASI was tapped by a
children's entertainment company based in Sydney,
Australia and went on to win the Best Animation Category
in the 2012 Pixel Awards.
4. Among the other exciting milestones in the fast-
emerging Philippine animation industry was the
creation in 2008 of Urduja, an animated film
adaptation of the legend of the warrior princess of
Pangasinan. Produced by APT Entertainment,
Seventoon, and Imaginary Friends, Urduja is
recognized as the first fully-animated Filipino film,
created by an all-Filipino group of animators using
the traditional (hand-drawn) animation process with
some 3D effects. The characters were voiced by an
all-star cast of actors from Philippine cinema and
television, with the screenplay written in Filipino.
Also released in 2008 was Dayo: Sa Mundo ng
Elementalia, said to be the country's first all-digital
full-length animated feature film: Produced by
Cutting Edge Productions, the film presents
Philippine mythical creatures as heartwarming
characters in a young boy's adventure. The
production involved over 500 local animators and
5. featured a "tra-digital animation" technique. Its
characters were rendered in 2D animation, while the
backdrops were created using 3D animation. Dayo
was also the first- ever animated movie to be
screened during the Metro Manila Film Festival, as it
was entered in the 34th MMFF in December 2008.
Another breakthrough was the first Filipino full 3D-
animated film, RPG Metanoia, co-produced by
Ambient Media, Thaumatrope Animation, and Star
Cinema in 2010.
d. Application Direction: Direction: In a one-half sheet of paper,
