Grace Dimaranan presented on the history and current state of the Filipino animation industry. In the early 1980s-1990s, only foreign-owned companies existed in the Philippines and focused on outsourced service work. By the late 1990s, India and China entered the market offering lower costs, causing some companies to move operations. However, small Filipino-owned animation companies started to grow. Some examples of pioneering Filipino animated series and films included Tutubi Patrol, Jobert, Kwentong Kayumanggi, and the first all-digital Filipino full-length film Libingan. The presentation advocated for more support of the local animation sector in the Philippines.
