Grace Dimaranan presented on the history and current state of the Filipino animation industry. In the early 1980s-1990s, only foreign-owned companies existed in the Philippines and focused on outsourced service work. By the late 1990s, India and China entered the market offering lower costs, causing some companies to move operations. However, small Filipino-owned animation companies started to grow. Some examples of pioneering Filipino animated works included Tutubi Patrol, Jobert, and Kwentong Kayumanggi. Upcoming projects like Dayo aimed to combine 2D and 3D techniques and showcase Filipino mythology.
