Management Strategies Tone of Voice “Carpet Check” “Line Check” Two Finger Test Follow through with Consequences (after one warning) Reset – Nutured Heart Approach Students review expectations instead of teacher Hand Signal to line up Good Behavior Examples, Positive Praise (General, Specific) Wait Time Student Monitors to choose others to sign Respect Board Take away Individual Recess Time (Sounds like a Choice) Teacher Dismisses Students; Go Back if too loud Positive Reinforcement when it would be appropriate to scold Asking, “Are you making the right choice?” Circulating around the classroom – Proximity Stop Light Chart (Whole Class Behavior Management Chart) Butterfly Points – 1 thing they could have done better; 1 thing they did well; done each day and at so many points get a class reward Individual Behavior Charts – Parent signed at the end of the week Red Stick/Green Stick Telling students they look like “big” kids. Ticket system – get so many each week; give back based on behavior Teacher’s attention is the “PRIZE” – ignoring misbehaviors and focusing on the behaviors you should be seeing Group Work Leaders get to give “prizes” – ownership Self Discipline – work problems out with one another Transitioning – Show Ready Signal Clap Pattern “Green Lunch” – at the end of the week - lunch with the teacher based on behavior, homework, etc Participation – popsicle sticks with student pics Paw Prints for Prizes – distributed when students are focused, behaving, etc. Stickers Group Work – 3 before me Rule: ask 3 students before asking the teacher Body Language – Teacher Look
