A landslide occurred in the village of Malin, India on July 30, 2014 due to heavy rainfall, killing 151 people. The landslide destroyed 40 houses. Rescue efforts were difficult due to continued rainfall. The landslide was caused by both natural factors like heavy rain lowering the water table as well as human factors such as deforestation, changed agricultural practices, and nearby construction activities over the past ten years. As of August 4, the death toll had reached 134 people.
