Captain Knows Analysis
Often times in a theatre troupe, three different groups tend to stand out amongst the crowd. In this
troupe, there are the Captain Knows how s, the Diamond Shiner s, and the Queen s of Drama. They all
have their perks, except when their special instincts take over and steal the show.
The first group is the Captain Knows how s. This group is often the shy, quiet personality in the whole
troupe. However, if the director needs a task done they always find this group. No matter what, or how
hard the task is, the Captain Knows how s will never cease to amaze. Beware, they may seem friendly,
but if caught in the midst of them and without a tool in hand, know that death is near. This group is
also known to be blessed with patience , because they sit with the Queens of Drama when they need a
hand. Nevertheless, this group knows how to get the job done and a phrase commonly heard is, Trust
me, I know how, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group is slightly more terrifying, because they are time ticking, music making machines. Be
careful in speaking with a member of this group because you may lose the love of a song, due to their
excessive use of lyrics in their speech and constant bursting out in rhymes, they often stick to their
group with the occasional conversation with an outsider. Just because they sing every song ever
written, does not imply that they can remember every song. However, if started in the right track they
will sing the lyrics until they are threatened to stop. These individuals are also mainly the ones that are
seen as the leads in a play production. They are secretly hated by everyone, but everyone knows that
no other person could fill that role the

Zombie Apocalypse Weapons
The three most important items that are needed for a zombie apocalypse are a knife or multi tool, a
fire source, and a map. All of these tools are extremely necessary for going out into the wide range of
Rot and Ruin with thousands of flesh eating zombies. They all can be used in many different ways that
could help anyone survive. To begin with, a knife or multi tool would be a great survival tool because
it can be used for pretty much anything. As an obvious scenario, people could use the knife or multi
tool to kill the zombies who have one thing on their mind: eat brains. A knife is a great choice of
weapon because it is silent but extremely deadly and can get the job done quickly and easily. Another
reason why a knife belongs in

The Reaction Of Catalase Breaking Down Hydrogen Peroxide
PreLab Questions:
The reaction that will be taking place is Catalase breaking down hydrogen peroxide.
The enzyme in the reaction is Catalase. If another enzyme like lactase is used, no reaction would take
place because the substrate, hydrogen peroxide, wouldn t fit into the active site.
The substrate is the hydrogen peroxide
The product is H2O and O2.
The rate of reaction will be measured by timing how long it takes for the spheres of yeast to sink and
float up to the top again.
Three factors that can affect the rate of reaction are temperature, pH and the salinity.
General Procedures:
Making the yeast/sodium alginate solutions:

Part A:
Research Question: How does the concentration of an substrate affect reaction rates?
Hypothesis: If the concentration of an substrate is increased then the time it takes for the yeast spheres
to rise will decrease because there is more substrate for the enzyme to break down, creating more
oxygen, faster.
Independent Variable: Concentration of substrate

Roe V. Wade And Planned Parenthood Vs. Casey
Topic 1 Essay
Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey
Regardless of the opinions surrounding abortion, a majority of people are familiar with the Supreme
court cases of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. These two cases have played a
tremendous role in regard to the abortion debate. In 1973, the Roe v. Wade case was ruled in favour of
Roe and stated the stringent criminalization of abortion in Texas was deemed unconstitutional under
the fourteenth amendment. The law violated the right of privacy, which implied the privacy of a
woman s decision to an abortion. Although the courts agreed with Roe, they also recognized the rights
to an abortion are not absolute. Limitations to the right was based on the trimesters of pregnancy with
the first trimester protecting the woman s choice and the third trimester being acceptable for states to
regulate or even ban abortions outside of therapeutic reasons.
In the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Casey fought against the state of Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania Abortion Control act. The restrictions required the woman to give a written informed
consent, seek parental consent if she was a minor, and notify her husband if she married. With the
same violation of the fourteenth amendment as the Roe v. Wade case, the courts saw favour to Casey.
While the majority of the restrictions were supported by the courts, the requirement of the husband s
notification was not. The result of this case added support of the decision of Roe

but so do adults. There are many reasons why people love to wrestle including the physical aspect and
the mental challenge. It is not clear when or where wrestling first originated, but it is believed the
sport of wrestling evolved from hand to hand combat in the mesopotamian days. From then many
different types of wrestling have formed including Greco Roman and freestyle wrestling and many

Two of the most common skin infections are staph infection and ringworm. Skin infections account
for about 14.4% of all adverse events during wrestling. Staph infection can result in boils, painful
rashes, sores, and blisters. Staph infection can sometimes result in sepsis, this infection is caused when
the staph infection invades your bloodstream, sepsis can lead to sepsis shock which is a life
threatening episode with low blood pressure. Ringworm results in a patch of itchy and infected skin
with a red ring around the outside, inside the ring may be clear, scaly or marked with a scattering of
red bumps. Ringworm is transmitted usually through skin to skin contact with someone with the
infection, but it can also be transmitted through animal to human, object to human, and in rare cases
soil to human contact. Skin infections are a major concern in the wrestling community, as of right now
though there are no rules or regulations that force wrestling officials or coaches to wash the wrestling
mats which can carry many skin infections including staph and ringworm. If there was a rule or
regulation that forced wrestling officials to wash wrestling mats before and after practices and matches
the number of skin infections would decrease. When the mats are washed they should not be washed
just with soap and water but with a distinct solution that is antibacterial and that included certain
ingredients

Cryptography Is A Science That Transforms Information Into...
In recent times providing security to the information is the major issue. There are many applications
developed by the cyber terrorists, cyber criminals, script kidders etc. to steal the private information
like passwords, ATM pin numbers, and credit card details so on. One of the solution to protect the
information is Cryptography, which is the focus of this paper.
Cryptography is a science that transforms information into secure form by providing basic protections.
These protections include confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authentication, and Nonrepudiation
(Ciampa 189). Let s understand the characteristics of information and their description (see table 1).
The term Cryptography was originated from Greek. In Greek Crypto means hidden and grapy means
writing. Simply, cryptography means scrambling data so that it cannot be read or access by an
unauthorized person. The ancient cryptographer Julius Caesar sent messages to his commanders by
shifting each letter in his message to three places down in the alphabet. A was replaced by D, B was
replaced by E and so on (Ciampa 186). This method of changing the original text into a secret
message is called encryption and retrieving back to the original form is called decryption.
The clear plaintext is given as input to the cryptographic algorithm. According to Stallings
cryptographic algorithms consists of mathematical functions which are used to encrypt and decrypt the
data (44). A key is a mathematical value which

Albert Bandura Summary
Albert Bandura directed a study to examine if social behaviors can be assimilated by surveillance and
imitation. Albert and his associates tested 36 girls and 36 boys, between ages of 3 to 6, from the
Stanford University Nursery School. The researchers ran a pretrial of how aggressive the kids were at
the beginning. The children were later categorized in groups of how aggressive they were. The
experiment contained a bobo doll and tools to abuse the doll while some consisted of toys in a room.
One group of kids were exposed to adults aggressively hitting the doll with hammers, and those kids
reacted the same way when placed in that room. The second group watched a model ignore the doll
and they proceeded to play with the toys. The third group, known as the control group, was not
exposed to any model at all. Researchers made notes of the aggressiveness and where ... Show more

The boys were prone to impersonate male models than girls. The boys were more harsh and tough
than the girls. Though, the exclusion to this general outline was the observation of how often they beat
Bobo, and in this case the assets of sexual role were inverted. The results back up Bandura s Theory
regarding social learning, meaning children acquire aggression by social behavior in their environment
s and from observation. The experiments were conducted thoroughly because all variables except one
were not controlled. All variables were categorized by gender, age, and temper. If needed the study
could be repeated at any day in time. This study has significant allegations for the belongings of all

Richard Howard s Legacy
I never really knew my grandpa as well as I would have liked. He was already an old, old man by the
time I started high school, and my own memories of him are mostly of a man confined by age and
ailing health. So I m not really going to talk about my memories of him. Instead, I m going to try to
share his memories and the memories of those that knew him. In 1920, Richard Edmund Howard was
born into a poor household in Westhoughton, a dreary little coal mining town in England s north. As a
boy, he attended the local parish school and sang in the church choir on Sundays. He spoke of chasing
the local girls up and down the main street and, when he wasn t doing that, could be found knocking
about town or playing football with his cousins and his mates. His interest in football was one of the
few things that took him beyond ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He once told me of his father, a hard man, who came home at nights blackened by coal dust, and of his
mother, a hardworking woman who seems always to have been a source of comfort. Not wanting him
to follow his father and grandfathers and great grandfathers into the tunnels beneath the town, his
parents encouraged him to get a trade. And he did. He got an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery
at the local funeral parlour, building coffins for the dead. Life took a turn in 1939, though, when war
broke out in Europe. Within a year, Dick had enlisted in the Royal Air Force. He trained as an
instrument repairman and worked primarily with Spitfires. For a time, he was stationed in southern
England during the Battle of Britain, when British and German aeroplanes fought for air supremacy
over the English Channel. In 1941, though, he was transferred to a newly established squadron of the
Royal Australian Air Force. He was among a number of British crewmen working alongside
Australian pilots as part of the No. 452 Squadron. When rumours emerged that the squadron would be

Earl Warren s Supreme Court Rulings
Earl Warren s Supreme Court rulings helped various rights for many Americans, most of which are
still used and enforced today. The Warren s Court ruling in Brown v. Board of Education ruled that
segregation in public schools as unconstitutional. It s rulings on Mapp v. Ohio ended up resulting in
the exclusionary rule. The rule made any evidence obtained illegally as inadmissible in court. In
Reynold s v. Sims required that legislative districts across states be made as equal as possible in
population. Miranda v. Arizona resulted that your rights be read to you upon arrest or questioning.
Each of these court cases helped to enforce and enhance the rights of many Americans. The case
known as Brown v. Board of Education was actually the name that was given to five separate cases
that were heard by the U.S. Supreme Court (History Brown v. Board of Education Re enactment). The
cases were all combined because each case sought out desegregation as the remedy for grossly
inadequate conditions in segregated black schools (Brown v. Board of Education). When meeting to
decide the case, the Justices were divided over the issues that were raised. They were unable to come
to a conclusion by June 1953 the end of the Courts 1952 1953 term. The Justices decided to rehear the
case again in December. During that time, Chief Justice Fred Vinson died and was replaced by Earl
Warren. When the case was reheard in December 1953, Chief Justice Earl Warren was able to bring all

Information Processing With Population Codes Essay

This is where the start of population coding formed. I personally find it amazing that we can compare
two separate things that are unlike in many ways such as computers and our nervous system. There are
so many things that are similar even though they are so unlike, such as there is one thing controlling
the whole system like in our bodies our nervous system controls us.
An example of the population coding that is presented within the paper is place cells within rats. We
are able to use these cells to show the animals location with regards to a centred reference frame in the
surrounding environment of the rat. In this experiment, they use a small maze, each area is
characterized by one of these place cells . Within this area there is a small region of the maze that is
triggered and sends a response. Through observing the rats, they saw that there was a spatial overlap
between the fields and thus, they concluded that the cells would respond to any location that they are
given. They also found that visual features were also encoded within these population codes, for
example, orientation, colour, direction of motion, and depth. So far, it has been shown that our
environmental influences effect our behaviour so heavily. Population encoding is very strongly rooted,
if one cell is damaged it won t affect the already encoded representation. Just as if one part of a
computer goes, most of the time the remaining parts of the device

Maxine Hong Kingston s No Name Woman
Maxine Hong Kingston, a first generation Chinese American, searches for her identity by comparing
her own American traditions with her parent s old China traditions. Although Kingston grew up in
California, her family roots remain deep within her culture. She is an active feminist and the author of
two well known books, The Woman Warrior (1970) and China Men (1980). In No Name Woman,
Kingston explores the treatment, values and life of the women of old China in the 1920s.
In No Name Woman, which is Chapter One of The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood among
Ghosts, Kingston learns from her mother that she once had an aunt who killed both herself and her
newborn baby by jumping into the family drinking well in China. Kingston relates that the woman s
husband had left the country years before to provide for the family in America, so the villagers knew
the child was illegitimate. The night that the baby was born, the villagers raided and destroyed the
family house; consequently, the woman gave birth in a pigsty. Kingston s mother further explains that
the next morning she found her sister in law and the baby had plugged up the well. The woman had
brought such disgrace upon her family that they decided to pretend that she had never been born.
Kingston s mother tells the story as a cautionary tale to her daughter, in the years Kingston begins to
menstruate. Her mother warns her to be careful lest the same fate fall upon her. Kingston, looking

Ecological State Of Reddam House Wetland Essay
BIOLOGY PROJECT Ecological State of Reddam House Wetland Daanyaal Abdool Grade 12 Mr.
Smee Introduction: Wetlands play a major role in the ecosystem as the provides habitats for animals as
well as purify water and our wetland at Reddam House acts as a purification for water that passes it as
well as a habitat for many birds and insects. Within this task we were required to determine the
ecological state of the Reddam House wetland, which I presume is at a good standard. I decided to test
the ecological status of the wetland by gathering samples from the wetland and testing it for various
aspects in the water and the plants that are found within the area. Literature review:
http://www.environmental+science+.org/bird environmental indicators (Refer to appendix 1 for
article) In this article it speaks about many different types of indicators that one could see in order to
determine the ecological state of the wetland by my factors such as the biodiversity, pollution levels,
the fauna and flora in the wetland. This relates to our wetland as we have a large biodiversity in our
wetland with little pollution as well as plants such as reeds growing which indicate a healthy wetland.
We also occasionally see a large variety of birds in our wetland therefore another indicator that our
wetland is healthy. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/why are wetlands so important to

The Triumph of Christianity in the Roman Empire Essays
Christians went from being persecuted to dominating Rome rather quickly. In a world where
separation between church and state does not exist, a Christian becoming the sole emperor of Rome
symbolized a huge turning point in history. The power switched and the Pagans in turn became
persecuted. Christians rose up and took control of all aspects of Roman society. The Pagan past was
destroyed, banned, or forgotten about. Those Christians that did not agree with how things were being
run either left the empire and became monks or formed their own sect. All of Rome changed.
The part that interested me the most in these readings were those that strayed away from the standard
Christianity that the emperor instated and followed their own ... Show more content on

Like the monks they too believed in penance, suffering, and martyrdom (164). Led by Donatus, this
movement dominated North Africa. The church was not purely religious; however, its underlay was a
revolutionary social movement. It was popular among peasants due to promises of reversing roles of
slaves and masters. What confuses me is that the base of their religion seems very much involved with
the government. That alone would not be surprising, since many religions share that quality; but,
Donatus insisted on complete separation of this Spirit directed Church from the state (164).
Separation of church and state was a big issue in the beginning of Christianity, mostly because it didn t
exist. God supposedly chose the emperor Constantine and in turn Constantine chose Christianity as the
empire s official religion. The union of church and state may not have been as great a problem if
freedom of speech had also existed. It seems weird to imagine a right that I have taken for granted all
of my life not to be present. Pagans experience a loss of political rights and status. Anti pagan and anti
Semitic preaching rallied everyone against the outsiders. Those, such as the popes, that enjoyed high
ranks in Christianity now enjoyed high ranks in the government. Those, such as the emperor, that
enjoyed high ranks in the government now enjoyed high ranks in Christianity. The line

The Effects Of Hearing Loss On A Child s Life
Hearing loss can have one of the biggest impacts on a child s life. Hearing is an essential tool used to
learn language; without the ability to hear, a child is missing out on key aspects that will help them
learn language. This is why it is crucial that hearing loss is detected early on, because the earlier it is
treated, the more likely the child is to develop listening and spoken language skills appropriate for
their age. Children that are born deaf are already at a disadvantage as the typical child is born with
around 20 weeks of listening experience already. It is important that we are proactive in identifying
children s hearing loss early, while their brain s neuroplasticity is still the greatest. Essentially,
children are in a race ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Essay 2 Hearing aids are small devices that have made a huge impact on the hearing impaired. There
are four main parts that make up a hearing aid. First, there is the microphone; the microphone changes
acoustic signals into electric signals. An omnidirectional microphone picks up noise coming from all
directions, where as a directional microphone focuses on sound coming from a certain direction in
order to improve the signal to noise ratio. The next main part is the amplifier. The amplifier increases
the power of the converted signal where the receiver then converts the electric signals back to acoustic
signals and sends it through the ear mold into the ear. The last part of the hearing aid is the battery.
The battery is likely the most important part, as without the battery, the hearing aid would just act as a
really large ear plug. Hearing aids are an important piece of technology as they help individuals with a
hearing loss receive auditory input they might not otherwise hear. The technology inside a hearing aid
is capable of isolating certain sounds and amplifying them so that an individual with a hearing loss
that prevents them from hearing those sounds is now more likely to hear them. This is very important
for children. Children with hearing loss may be able to

Prostitution Laws in Canada
Introduction
Prostitution is considered by many to be the oldest profession. Throughout civilization many society
have had to address the issue of prostitution. Canada is a nation renown for promoting the
advancement of women in all parts of the world. However, it is a nation guilty of punishing women
for the circumstances in which they find themselves. The prostitution laws in Canada shows an
antiquated view on the issue of prostitution, it has failed to adequately protect women. It is important
that prostitutes are given an opportunity to protect themselves by employing security personnel if
necessary and choose the location for conducting business. This paper will demonstrate that the
policies employed by the federal government enhance the harm prostitute s faces. as a result of being
prevented by law from taking steps to enhance safety. The importance of legislator to balance the
individual rights of the prostitute against the interest of the collective society. Also, by regulating the
industry would shift the power from the pimps and johns controlling the services.
Describing the topic
Prostitution is the practice of exchanging money for sexual services. While the exchange of sexual
gratification for consideration between consenting adults is legal, the law prohibits those activities

Persuasive Essay On Animals
Everyday nearly twenty six million meat birds die. That s 300 chickens a second. These chickens who
are basically babies, hang by their feet in blood splattered shackles. Their lives have barely begun.
With crimson feathers, they are forced to stare at the incarnadine walls. Their only reminder of family,
friends, and strangers, it s a promise of their future. Barely alive chickens who have been thrown,
kicked or stomped upon, litter the floor gasping for air in the ammonia filled room. About twenty eight
thousand cows die everyday. Cows have their limbs strewn around to decorate the floor, smears of red
matching the kill floor s stained color. Deep, low bellows echoing of the walls signaling the cows
distress when they smell the blood of their friends and now they know what s next. The drain
overflows with the almost black fluid as a cow s throat is slit, its eyes wide while all twelve gallons of
its blood comes cascading out while the rest of them hang from bloody chains protruding from the
ceiling. These animals did not choose the fate that they currently hold. In today s world, with the beef
and poultry industry s appalling inner workings, being vegetarian, or even vegan, are the only morally

without meat.

Analysis of Immanuel Kant s Arguements in The...
In the essay titled Foundations of the Metaphysics of Morals published in the Morality and Moral
Controversies course textbook, Immanuel Kant argues that the view of the world and its laws is
structured by human concepts and categories, and the rationale of it is the source of morality which
depends upon belief in the existence of God. In Kant s work, categorical imperative was established in
order to have a standard rationale from where all moral requirements derive. Therefore, categorical
imperative is an obligation to act morally, out of duty and good will alone. In Immanuel Kant s writing
human reason and or rational are innate morals which are responsible for helping human. Needless to

Freedom of the will can never be disproven or proven because will is influenced by the force outside
of the human body and humans use reason to determine the law themselves. Rational people recognize
themselves as free according to the categorical imperative.
Though I found myself sometimes disagreeing with the philosophy by Immanuel Kant, I found his
subjective reasoning to be thought provoking. I was pulled by two different forces after Kant defined
happiness as the state of a rational being in the world in the whole of whose existence everything goes
according to his wish and will. This unconventional way of defining term of happiness strands away
from the definition of happiness written by philosopher in the name of John Stuart Mill. Mill defines
happiness as a state of maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain. In the writing, Immanuel argues that
possession of wealth, health, or bravery can be used for afflicted purposes and these characteristics
cannot be essentially good. To Kant, being worthy of happiness requires for one to possess a good
will. The genuine good is the only unconditional good which is connected to a good will. Disastrous
misfortunes can happen but the goodness of the will still remains. In this described above idea
Immanuel provides a concrete support. According to my interpretation of the author s idea and
supporting statements, each day my actions consequentially are moderately influenced by Kant s
philosophy. I also believe that

by William Shakespeare, Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the
protagonists force change upon their respective subjects in order to benefit in some fashion. They soon
discover that forcing change on another person can be a reality, but it does not happen without
consequence.
Victor Frankenstein strives toward creation of life, but instead is met with suffering and death. At the
creation, Victor states, He held up the curtain of the bed; and his eyes, if eyes they may be called, were

What have you left me fit for? Where am I to go? What am I to do? What s to become of me? () Like
Frankenstein s monster, Eliza begins to question herself and how the change she is undergoing affects
her life. She uses this as justification to run away from Higgins and start her new life. Eliza then
laments to Colonel Pickering, I shall always be a flower girl to Professor Higgins, because he always
treats me as a flower girl, and always will; but I know I can be a lady to you, because you always treat
me as a lady, and always will. () The lack of fatherly affection shown by Higgins in this case leads
Eliza to turn against him after realizing he was not any more gentlemanly than any other man. Higgins
did not achieve what he desired in his control of Eliza, to have her be obedient.
The Taming of the Shrew holds many variations of change amongst its characters. One of the Lords in
the opening scene remarked, I long to hear him call the drunkard husband, And how my men will stay
themselves from laughter, When they do homage to this simple peasant. (Shakespeare ?) There is no
benefit to either party for the facade of royalty being placed upon the poor man and it only serves as
amusement for the lords. Right from the beginning, transformations are being made in other characters
to foreshadow Kate s eventual change. She remarks, Young budding virgin, fair and fresh and

MULTIPLE INPUT MULTIPLE OUTPUT (MIMO)
In MIMO system there is multiple antennas is provided at the transmitter side as well as receiver side.
Using multiple antennas at the transmitter and the receiver side could able to increase spectral
efficiency, produces higher capacity and provides more data rates for wireless communication. In
MIMO system there is SU MIMO that is called single user MIMO in which when there is data rates
need to be increased for single user then it is known as SU MIMO, and if there is individual stream is
allocated to multiple users; then it is called multiuser MIMO (MU MIMO).
In MIMO system, let s consider there is Mt transmitting antenna and Mr receive antennas where s=

Functions of MIMO
The main function of MIMO system includes precoding, spatial multiplexing and diversity coding.
Precoding is the process of multi stream beamforming which process at the transmitter. The main
advantage of multi stream beamforming is to increase the received signal input, by making signals
emitted from different antennas add up constructively and it is also able to mitigate the multipath
fading effect. Precoding requires channel state information at the transmitter. When there is multiple
antennas at the receiver, the transmit beamforming cannot simultaneously maximize the signal level at
all the receive antennas, and precoding with multiple stream is used. MIMO antenna configuration is
requires in spatial multiplexing. In spatial multiplexing the high rate signal is divide into low rate
signals and each individual stream is transmitted from different transmit antenna which is having the
same frequency channel. Spatial multiplexing is technique which is capable of increasing channel
capacity at higher signal to noise

Different Types Of Stresses From The Internal And External...
Throughout the lifetime of a living organism, it is exposed to many different types of stresses from the
internal and external environment. In order to maintain homeostasis, cells must be poised to activate
appropriate cellular stress responses to overcome the initial stress stimulus. Mitogen activated protein
kinase (MAPK) pathways are crucial among the major pathways that regulate stress responses. There
are six conserved and ubiquitous MAPK signalling pathways in mammalian systems that coordinate
and integrate responses to various stimuli. The architecture of each pathway is conserved, with the
core signalling module consisting of a phosphorylation cascade which is mediated by three classes of
protein kinases: the MAPK kinase kinase (MAP3K), the MAPK kinase (MAP2K) and the MAPK.
Within this pathway, the MAP3K is activated or inactivated by various stimuli resulting in the
successive phosphorylation and activation of MAP2K, which in turn phosphorylates and activates
MAPK. Activated MAPK s then regulate the appropriate cellular responses by activating or
inactivating cellular targets, such as other protein kinases or transcription factors. Due to the position
of MAP3K s at the apex of the core signalling module , it is important to understand their regulatory
mechanisms as the MAPK pathway is dependent on their activation. Apoptosis signal regulating
kinase 1 (ASK1) is a MAP3K family member. This MAP3K is activated in response to a host of
cellular stress stimuli,

Examples Of Justice In No Country For Old Men
In the novel No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, there is a battle between two versions of
justice. In typical western narratives, the Sheriff is the strong hero who perseveres through battle with
the antagonist, and the good guys always win. However, this novel disrupts this usual ending with the
introduction of a unique antagonist, Chigurh. Chigurh breaks the mold of the typical old western
villain in how he manages to outsmart the law and escape. His escape is a disastrous blow to the
system of justice the Sheriff has spent his life trying to maintain. Through this, the author displays a
twisted, unhappy version of justice in Chigurh and how it compares to Sheriff Bell s typical, objective
notion of justice on the western frontier. This interpretation showcases that sometimes justice is not
between only good and bad, and good does not necessarily always win. With its alternative versions of
justice, the novel illustrates the changing morality of the western frontier, the weakness of moral
driven justice and how these opposing views create individual interpretations of justice compared to
an objective standard.
The Sheriff can be characterized as the hero of this novel. As a law enforcement official, he represents
an objective, straightforward idea of justice. This point of view sees justice as black and white: there

Research Paper On David Hasselhoff
It seems in this modern day and age, no one in the entertainment industry can seem to maintain a good
credibility. A prime example of this is David Hasselhoff. David Hasselhoff demonstrates why having
good credibility is an important virtue but can easily and hastily be destroyed. He also demonstrates
that all your actions effect your credibility. David Hasselhoff was born on July 17, 1952 (age 61) in
Baltimore, MD. Some of his first major achievements include starring in many television series such
as The Young and the Restless, Baywatch, Baywatch Nights, and Night Rider. Hasselhoff also dabbled
in drama and theatre. Early in Hasselhoff s life, he believed his career would lead to Broadway.
(Stevens) Hasselhoff gained his credibility by not being caught in scandals through the beginning of
his career. He also gained credibility by starring in many of the productions stated before. He was
known as a trustworthy and credible person for a moderate amount of time. (Stevens) That is, until he
was discovered to be in the same boat as the vast majority of the music industry.
David Hasselhoff s middle and current years of his life are controlled by alcohol. (Stevens) The first
time the public found out about Hasselhoff s drunken acts, his credibility toke a large negative hit. In
2002 while Hasselhoff was filming his Baywatch Reunion movie, he released to the public that over

Lee Vs Grant
At the end of the Civil War, two great men found themselves in a bind. Robert E. Lee, commander of
the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, had a slew of wounded and malnourished soldiers, and
nothing to feed them. Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the Union Army, had resources to spare and
extended an offer of surrender in exchange for those rations. Lee accepted, and therefore forfeit the
Civil War to the Union Army. Throughout their four year struggle for victory, the two men underwent
many trials, and ultimately came to a consensus that the carnage had to come to an end. Although Lee
and Grant had drastically different approaches to the way they commanded their respective armies,
both went down in American History as heroes. Robert E. Lee was fanatic about the caliber of his
work and held those around him to extremely high standards, which led to his eventual downfall, and
decision to surrender at Appomattox. Throughout his life, Lee was noted as being incredibly dedicated
to his duties, and oftentimes even put his job over his family. Historians say that he held himself to a
very high standard and expected no less from those who served under ... Show more content on

Theories Of Humanitarian Intervention

debate, stating the many ethical theories of many different theorists: from utilitarianism; natural law;
social contractrianism; communitarianism; and legal postivism (7). Holzgrefe goes on to define what
each ethical theorist is and their understanding of the debate on humanitarian intervention. However,
there is the idea of when it is right to intervene and when intervention is unfavorable. The most

The idea of selective is that it is based on a voluntary choice to determine when and why one should
intervene when massacres and wars are surrounding certain countries. Brown sets up an example
where he discusses the speech of Prime Minister Tony Blair, in Blair s last question, he asked do we
have national interests involved? (4). Brown discusses how this question alone shows selectivity.
Brown goes on to say that what Blair meant was that unless interests are directly involved,
intervention is likely short lived and ineffective (6). However, goes back to the idea of human rights
violations, which has been the one of the main reasons why all these articles have some
theorist/individuals who are trying to validate that a good reason to intervene is for the sole purpose of
human rights, that it is not an obligation, but as a way to treat human as an end not as means as Kant
would say. Which briefly brings me to touch upon the fourth and last article by Teson Fernando, the
interesting part is that human intervention is an obligation. In a way that is true, but no country is

Leader Characteristics Essay
Leader Characteristics
Charismatic leadership is one of four subdivisions of the larger concept of transformational leadership
(Bass, 1990). Charismatic leaders are self confident, dominant, purposeful, articulate, influential,
idealistic, and expressive. They have high energy levels, strong convictions, the ability to display
empathy, and are risk takers (Bass, 1990). By stimulating ailing corporations, revitalizing aging
bureaucracies or launching new enterprises (Howell and Avolio, 1995), charismatic leaders
demonstrate how truly effective they can be. These leaders are often described as visionaries, with a
strong sense of the future and a passion for their vision. They are able to achieve the vision by

Charismatic leaders are risk takers. They develop highly innovative approaches to problems. They are
not afraid to challenge established practices (Nur, 1998).
Another aspect of charismatic leadership is the effect the leader has on his followers. The charismatic
leader develops good communication with his followers. He works with them so that they actively
contribute to and develop the vision; the vision then becomes the property not only of the leader but of
his followers. Once they have this buy in, the followers are willing to go above and beyond the call of
duty to achieve the vision. The charismatic leader has the ability to inspire extraordinary performance
in his followers (Howell and Avolio, 1995). Bass (1990), states that the charismatic leader has the
ability to turn dormant followers into active ones. Charismatic leaders arouse trust, faith and belief in
the leader (Howell and Avolio, 1995). They also move their followers to become leaders in their own
right. But most of all, charismatic leaders inspire a deep devotion in their followers. The effect they
have on their followers seems to be their greatest achievement.
Follower Characteristics
Burns (1990) states that More important than what charismatics do or say is what their different
prospective followers feel about them. The followers have an actual need to identify with the
charismatic leader (Bass, 1990). Bass (1990) notes that researchers suggest that the followers

A Solid Home Essay
Hello everyone! Welcome to our first meeting for the production of A Solid Home . I am very excited
about what we can create together and I want us to be able to get started right away. For this
production, our guiding concept is going to be Death can be livelier than life. Firstly, I want to start
with the set design. Now in the text, Garro states that the play is located in a room with stone walls,
and no windows or doors. Now, this will be the base of the play, however to express the concept I
want to liven the space up. I think that painting a window and curtains on the upstage wall would help
create a more welcoming space. This would also allow for interesting blocking as we could have the
characters looking out the window, daydreaming as the reminisce about their reincarnations. Next, I
want a minimalistic amount of furniture, and I want these to be on the more neutral side, coming in
colors of white, tan and light grey, as furniture has no life to it. The place should also look lived in,
should feel like a home, with pillows on the furniture and books and knickknacks on any tables. This
will allow the characters to stand out, as they are the life of the play and their home is more than just a
crypt. Next, talking about the characters, I have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

This stanzaese ilines invokes a strange mix of hopeful images, layered with words of despair.veiled
beneath words of despair . Many would agree there is a clear feeling of hopelessness throughout the
poem; however, through poetic allusions to redemption, glimpses of optimism are seen in Eliot s
work, suggesting all may not be lost. His references to the redeeming hellfire of Dante s Divine

perhaps holds onto a glimmer of hope for society s despondent state.fordespondent state .
Eliot calls to our attention the degradation of society using the theme of lust throughout The Waste
Land. In A Game of Chess and again in The Fire Sermon, he describes how sex has become an act
devoid of meaning and emotion. The speakers in these sections show how society has separated sex
and love, stripping it of its significance. However, in What the Thunder Said , Eliot points the way to
redemption. He quotes Dante stating, Poi s ascose nel foco che gli affina (line 427) which translates

As the industries slowed and plantations lost money they were desperate for new tactics and
inventions so, Eli Whitney invented the cotton gin. The cotton gin was invented in 1807. Eli had
applied for a patent in October of 1793 but wasn t granted until March of 1794. The cotton gin had
been invented but, was not validated for use until 1807. The invention caused a huge spike in the slave
industry because now the sorting process was expedited and much more efficient. This caused owners
to buy or trade more slaves, they needed more to pick and more to crank the cotton gin. Thought the
gin was efficient, it was very dangerous. For example, in Harper Lee s To Kill A Mockingbird , Tom
Robinson did not have a left hand because it had gotten caught in a cotton gin and brutally tore his
hand apart. The cotton gin was a success for the owners but, a dangerous job for the slaves. Following
the invention of the cotton gin was the Civil War. The cotton gin, along with many other factors, led
the south and north into a war. During the civil war, slaves from the south fought as soldiers because
there were a lack of people willing and some were forced. However, there were those who volunteered
to fight because they were either afraid of being free or they were treated decently at the plantation
they were at. These slaves, although beaten and lynched, wanted to protect what they had without any

Social Media And Its Effect On Society Essay
Change is a topic that everyone worries about. One of the biggest changes that our society has seen
since the turn of the century has been the advancements in technology. It has brought us to a time
where we can access any form of news from almost anywhere through smartphones and tablets. The
access our society has to technology has impacted present day teens more than any other age group,
causing an addiction to the resources available. Major social media corporations that have become
available since the start of the twenty first century have become the main cause of this addiction. Sites
such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are some of the most popular programs that have lured teens
to a virtual life. In a recent study done on teens internet usage, it was shown that ninety four percent of
teens have Facebook accounts, and the numbers continue to grow for Instagram and Twitter (Kaiser).
Teens have become chronic users of social media because of the comfort that is found. They feel more
comfortable in the virtual environments because they can diminish their feelings of loneliness and
have more interpersonal contact (Parks). However, this comfort has surpassed the safe limits, affecting
teen s mental states. Many teens turn to social networks for positive reasons, though there are many
that use social media negatively. Just as it is an easier place for lonely teens to vent, it is also an easier
place for harassment due to the belief that it is much harder to endure

Designing A Computer Network -such
There are many things to consider when designing a computer network such as costs of components,
software and labor; communication, cohesion, expandability and many others. However, the end goal
in such an enterprise is to have a fully functional, harmonious, and cohesive tiered system where
duties and actions are divided, and delineated accordingly. One of the major network architectures
used to facilitate this process is known as the TCP/IP Protocol Suite. The TCP/IP Protocol Suite was
designed by scientists in the effort to support a new type of network known as the ARAPNET that was
being installed across the US in the late 60 s to 70 s. (White, 2013, p. 15) The challenge was to create
an open system whereby all networks could freely communicate with each other. The design was
based on a layered system whereby the user would connect at the topmost (or application) layer, while
at the same time being removed or separated from the lower (physical) layer. Although the number of
layers is not exactly set, depending on the source this number can range between five and seven
layers, with each layer providing services to the layer above it. For the purposes of this discussion
however, we will address the five layer model. The five layers of the TCP/IP Protocol Suite are:
Application, Transport, Network, Network Access (or Data Link), and Physical. (White, 2013, p. 15)

Iran Research Paper
A Look Inside of Iran When thinking of Iran the first thing that comes to most people s mind is a
secluded country that supports terrorism located somewhere in the Middle East. However, like every
country in the world, there is more than what news and social platforms portray. Iran has many exports
some good some bad and there social classes, government, and economy are much similar to those of
the United States. Even though there are negative things about Iran you can t hold the entire country
accountable. Bad people will do bad things but every citizen should not fall under those perceptions.
Iranian Political Structure The Iranian Political Structure is very similar to the United States in that it
has a popularly elected ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His ministers must be confirmed by Parliament. The Iranian Parliament is comprised of 290 members
that are publicly elected every four years. It is responsible for drafting legislation, ratifying treaties,
and approves the country s budget much like the United State Senate. However, Parliament is held in
check by the Council of Guardians which examines all laws passed to determine their conformity with
Islamic law.
The Council of Guardians is comprised of 12 members and as stated early 6 is appointed by the
supreme leader. The judiciary recommends the other six and parliament officially appoints them. The
Council interprets the constitution and determines if laws passed by parliament are in adherence to
Islamic law. If it deems a law passed is not compliant it is referred back to Parliament for revision.
The council also examines candidates for public office and determines if they are capable.
The Judiciary branch is mainly controlled by the Supreme Leader who appoints the head of the
judiciary. The head of judiciary will then appoint the head of the Supreme Court and the head
prosecutor. The public courts deal with the civil and criminal cases. Special Clerical courts will
function independently of the judicial framework and only to the supreme leader they cannot be
appealed.
Military Composition of Iran The Iranian military is composed of two main parts. The Regular Army
and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the Regular Army is responsible for

Example Of Litigation Plan
At this time I am submitting the following litigation plan: Litigation Plan ● Current Analysis of: β—‹
Facts: This is a UIM claim arising from a motor vehicle accident in Oxford, Alabama. The plaintiff
and your insured, Jamie Holt, was stopped behind another vehicle at a red light on Highway 21. A
vehicle struck Mr. Holt s vehicle from the rear while traveling at approximately 40 mph, pushing Mr.
Holt s vehicle into the vehicle directly in front of his. Mr. Holt was taken to Regional Medical Center
in Anniston, Alabama via ambulance. Mr. Holt has already settle with the tortfeasor insurer,
Progressive, for the policy limits of $100,000.00. β—‹ Liability: The issue of liability is clear. The
Oxford Police Department s accident report indicates the tortfeasor was driving an estimated speed of
40 mph. There is also nothing in the report indicating the insured was stopped to close to the car in
front of him. β—‹ ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was subjected to several CT scans, and ultimately diagnosed with a fracture of the spinous process
of the thoracic vertebra. The radiologist notes indicate the fracture was non displaced and could even
possibly be congenital. β—‹ Damages: The demand pack provided by plaintiff s counsel indicates gross
medicals of $27,358.71. Most of that was paid by Blue Cross Blue Shield, which has a subrogation
interest in the amount of $3,956.73. β—‹ Potential outcomes: This plaintiff did very well to secure a
settlement from Progressive for their policy limits of $100,000.00. Given the fact this is an excess of
what I would have expected (based on the information I have now), I am not in the opinion right now
that State Farm should offer much in terms of

Social Model And The Medical Model
In today s society two models dominate, the social model and the medical model. Both are used to
label those who have impairments. The social model focuses on fixing the society to fit in with
impairments which was introduced alongside the disability movement. The 18th century otherwise
knowns as the age of enlightenment saw the introduction of some although very primitive ideas of
human science and what may cause impairments with this came the ideals that today may be argued to
be held with credibility even after advances in medical care. These same doctors with the new found
confidence of medical science set out to cure impairments. The medical model is most prominent in
mainstream television is one show ran by fox focuses on the medical diagnoses of patients but also of
the main character of Dr Gregory House who has a physical impairment many episodes focuses on
this and even in a hospital environment is unable to access some areas and with medical intervention
he would be cured, although even with medication, operations and therapies to normalise him nothing
could fix his disability. The short time that Dr House was considered to be normal highlighted how he
changed as a doctor and person.
The Medical model otherwise known as the Psycho Medical can be defined as a framework which
focuses on gathering medical facts to establish the cause of the impairment and best course of action
to cure and how to best normalised the individual to fit in with today s society. The

  • 2. Captain Knows Analysis Often times in a theatre troupe, three different groups tend to stand out amongst the crowd. In this troupe, there are the Captain Knows how s, the Diamond Shiner s, and the Queen s of Drama. They all have their perks, except when their special instincts take over and steal the show. The first group is the Captain Knows how s. This group is often the shy, quiet personality in the whole troupe. However, if the director needs a task done they always find this group. No matter what, or how hard the task is, the Captain Knows how s will never cease to amaze. Beware, they may seem friendly, but if caught in the midst of them and without a tool in hand, know that death is near. This group is also known to be blessed with patience , because they sit with the Queens of Drama when they need a hand. Nevertheless, this group knows how to get the job done and a phrase commonly heard is, Trust me, I know how, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This group is slightly more terrifying, because they are time ticking, music making machines. Be careful in speaking with a member of this group because you may lose the love of a song, due to their excessive use of lyrics in their speech and constant bursting out in rhymes, they often stick to their group with the occasional conversation with an outsider. Just because they sing every song ever written, does not imply that they can remember every song. However, if started in the right track they will sing the lyrics until they are threatened to stop. These individuals are also mainly the ones that are seen as the leads in a play production. They are secretly hated by everyone, but everyone knows that no other person could fill that role the ... All of these tools are extremely necessary for going out into the wide range of Rot and Ruin with thousands of flesh eating zombies. They all can be used in many different ways that could help anyone survive. To begin with, a knife or multi tool would be a great survival tool because it can be used for pretty much anything. As an obvious scenario, people could use the knife or multi tool to kill the zombies who have one thing on their mind: eat brains. A knife is a great choice of weapon because it is silent but extremely deadly and can get the job done quickly and easily. Another reason why a knife belongs in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Reaction Of Catalase Breaking Down Hydrogen Peroxide PreLab Questions: The reaction that will be taking place is Catalase breaking down hydrogen peroxide. The enzyme in the reaction is Catalase. If another enzyme like lactase is used, no reaction would take place because the substrate, hydrogen peroxide, wouldn t fit into the active site. The substrate is the hydrogen peroxide The product is H2O and O2. The rate of reaction will be measured by timing how long it takes for the spheres of yeast to sink and float up to the top again. Three factors that can affect the rate of reaction are temperature, pH and the salinity. General Procedures: Making the yeast/sodium alginate solutions: Hydrate the yeast packets in a beaker with 400 mL of distilled water at a 10% concentration. In a 50 mL ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Part A: Research Question: How does the concentration of an substrate affect reaction rates? Hypothesis: If the concentration of an substrate is increased then the time it takes for the yeast spheres to rise will decrease because there is more substrate for the enzyme to break down, creating more oxygen, faster. Independent Variable: Concentration of substrate 1.5% H2O2, 0.6% H2O2, 0.3% H2O2, 0% H2O2 Dependent Variable: Amount of time it takes for the yeast spheres to rise. Casey Regardless of the opinions surrounding abortion, a majority of people are familiar with the Supreme court cases of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. These two cases have played a tremendous role in regard to the abortion debate. In 1973, the Roe v. Wade case was ruled in favour of Roe and stated the stringent criminalization of abortion in Texas was deemed unconstitutional under the fourteenth amendment. The law violated the right of privacy, which implied the privacy of a woman s decision to an abortion. Although the courts agreed with Roe, they also recognized the rights to an abortion are not absolute. Limitations to the right was based on the trimesters of pregnancy with the first trimester protecting the woman s choice and the third trimester being acceptable for states to regulate or even ban abortions outside of therapeutic reasons. In the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Casey fought against the state of Pennsylvania Pennsylvania Abortion Control act. The restrictions required the woman to give a written informed consent, seek parental consent if she was a minor, and notify her husband if she married. With the same violation of the fourteenth amendment as the Roe v. Wade case, the courts saw favour to Casey. While the majority of the restrictions were supported by the courts, the requirement of the husband s notification was not. The result of this case added support of the decision of Roe ... Two of the most common skin infections are staph infection and ringworm. Skin infections account for about 14.4% of all adverse events during wrestling. Staph infection can result in boils, painful rashes, sores, and blisters. Staph infection can sometimes result in sepsis, this infection is caused when the staph infection invades your bloodstream, sepsis can lead to sepsis shock which is a life threatening episode with low blood pressure. Ringworm results in a patch of itchy and infected skin with a red ring around the outside, inside the ring may be clear, scaly or marked with a scattering of red bumps. Ringworm is transmitted usually through skin to skin contact with someone with the infection, but it can also be transmitted through animal to human, object to human, and in rare cases soil to human contact. Skin infections are a major concern in the wrestling community, as of right now though there are no rules or regulations that force wrestling officials or coaches to wash the wrestling mats which can carry many skin infections including staph and ringworm. If there was a rule or regulation that forced wrestling officials to wash wrestling mats before and after practices and matches the number of skin infections would decrease. There are many applications developed by the cyber terrorists, cyber criminals, script kidders etc. to steal the private information like passwords, ATM pin numbers, and credit card details so on. One of the solution to protect the information is Cryptography, which is the focus of this paper. Cryptography is a science that transforms information into secure form by providing basic protections. These protections include confidentiality, Integrity, Availability, Authentication, and Nonrepudiation (Ciampa 189). Let s understand the characteristics of information and their description (see table 1). The term Cryptography was originated from Greek. In Greek Crypto means hidden and grapy means writing. Simply, cryptography means scrambling data so that it cannot be read or access by an unauthorized person. The ancient cryptographer Julius Caesar sent messages to his commanders by shifting each letter in his message to three places down in the alphabet. A was replaced by D, B was replaced by E and so on (Ciampa 186). This method of changing the original text into a secret message is called encryption and retrieving back to the original form is called decryption. The clear plaintext is given as input to the cryptographic algorithm. According to Stallings cryptographic algorithms consists of mathematical functions which are used to encrypt and decrypt the data (44). A key is a mathematical value which ... In 1920, Richard Edmund Howard was born into a poor household in Westhoughton, a dreary little coal mining town in England s north. As a boy, he attended the local parish school and sang in the church choir on Sundays. I personally find it amazing that we can compare two separate things that are unlike in many ways such as computers and our nervous system. There are so many things that are similar even though they are so unlike, such as there is one thing controlling the whole system like in our bodies our nervous system controls us. An example of the population coding that is presented within the paper is place cells within rats. We are able to use these cells to show the animals location with regards to a centred reference frame in the surrounding environment of the rat. In this experiment, they use a small maze, each area is characterized by one of these place cells . Within this area there is a small region of the maze that is triggered and sends a response. Through observing the rats, they saw that there was a spatial overlap between the fields and thus, they concluded that the cells would respond to any location that they are given. They also found that visual features were also encoded within these population codes, for example, orientation, colour, direction of motion, and depth. So far, it has been shown that our environmental influences effect our behaviour so heavily. Population encoding is very strongly rooted, if one cell is damaged it won t affect the already encoded representation. What confuses me is that the base of their religion seems very much involved with the government. This is why it is crucial that hearing loss is detected early on, because the earlier it is treated, the more likely the child is to develop listening and spoken language skills appropriate for their age. Children that are born deaf are already at a disadvantage as the typical child is born with around 20 weeks of listening experience already. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay 2 Hearing aids are small devices that have made a huge impact on the hearing impaired. There are four main parts that make up a hearing aid. First, there is the microphone; the microphone changes acoustic signals into electric signals. An omnidirectional microphone picks up noise coming from all directions, where as a directional microphone focuses on sound coming from a certain direction in order to improve the signal to noise ratio. The next main part is the amplifier. The amplifier increases the power of the converted signal where the receiver then converts the electric signals back to acoustic signals and sends it through the ear mold into the ear. The last part of the hearing aid is the battery. The battery is likely the most important part, as without the battery, the hearing aid would just act as a really large ear plug. Hearing aids are an important piece of technology as they help individuals with a hearing loss receive auditory input they might not otherwise hear. The technology inside a hearing aid is capable of isolating certain sounds and amplifying them so that an individual with a hearing loss that prevents them from hearing those sounds is now more likely to hear them. This is very important for children. Children with hearing loss may be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the essay titled Foundations of the Metaphysics of Morals published in the Morality and Moral Controversies course textbook, Immanuel Kant argues that the view of the world and its laws is structured by human concepts and categories, and the rationale of it is the source of morality which depends upon belief in the existence of God. In Kant s work, categorical imperative was established in order to have a standard rationale from where all moral requirements derive. I was pulled by two different forces after Kant defined happiness as the state of a rational being in the world in the whole of whose existence everything goes according to his wish and will. This unconventional way of defining term of happiness strands away from the definition of happiness written by philosopher in the name of John Stuart Mill. Mill defines happiness as a state of maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain. In the writing, Immanuel argues that possession of wealth, health, or bravery can be used for afflicted purposes and these characteristics cannot be essentially good. Throughout the lifetime of a living organism, it is exposed to many different types of stresses from the internal and external environment. In order to maintain homeostasis, cells must be poised to activate appropriate cellular stress responses to overcome the initial stress stimulus. Mitogen activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways are crucial among the major pathways that regulate stress responses. There are six conserved and ubiquitous MAPK signalling pathways in mammalian systems that coordinate and integrate responses to various stimuli. The architecture of each pathway is conserved, with the core signalling module consisting of a phosphorylation cascade which is mediated by three classes of protein kinases: the MAPK kinase kinase (MAP3K), the MAPK kinase (MAP2K) and the MAPK. Within this pathway, the MAP3K is activated or inactivated by various stimuli resulting in the successive phosphorylation and activation of MAP2K, which in turn phosphorylates and activates MAPK. Activated MAPK s then regulate the appropriate cellular responses by activating or inactivating cellular targets, such as other protein kinases or transcription factors. Due to the position of MAP3K s at the apex of the core signalling module , it is important to understand their regulatory mechanisms as the MAPK pathway is dependent on their activation. Apoptosis signal regulating kinase 1 (ASK1) is a MAP3K family member. This MAP3K is activated in response to a host of cellular stress stimuli, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Examples Of Justice In No Country For Old Men In the novel No Country for Old Men by Cormac McCarthy, there is a battle between two versions of justice. In typical western narratives, the Sheriff is the strong hero who perseveres through battle with the antagonist, and the good guys always win. However, this novel disrupts this usual ending with the introduction of a unique antagonist, Chigurh. Chigurh breaks the mold of the typical old western villain in how he manages to outsmart the law and escape. His escape is a disastrous blow to the system of justice the Sheriff has spent his life trying to maintain. Through this, the author displays a twisted, unhappy version of justice in Chigurh and how it compares to Sheriff Bell s typical, objective notion of justice on the western frontier. This interpretation showcases that sometimes justice is not between only good and bad, and good does not necessarily always win. With its alternative versions of justice, the novel illustrates the changing morality of the western frontier, the weakness of moral driven justice and how these opposing views create individual interpretations of justice compared to an objective standard. A prime example of this is David Hasselhoff. David Hasselhoff demonstrates why having good credibility is an important virtue but can easily and hastily be destroyed. Lee, commander of the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia, had a slew of wounded and malnourished soldiers, and nothing to feed them. Ulysses S. Grant, commander of the Union Army, had resources to spare and extended an offer of surrender in exchange for those rations. Lee accepted, and therefore forfeit the Civil War to the Union Army. Throughout their four year struggle for victory, the two men underwent many trials, and ultimately came to a consensus that the carnage had to come to an end. Although Lee and Grant had drastically different approaches to the way they commanded their respective armies, both went down in American History as heroes. Robert E. Lee was fanatic about the caliber of his work and held those around him to extremely high standards, which led to his eventual downfall, and decision to surrender at Appomattox. Throughout his life, Lee was noted as being incredibly dedicated to his duties, and oftentimes even put his job over his family. On the other hand, although Grant did win the war, I do not think his efforts are remembered in such great magnitude as Lee s. Brown discusses how this question alone shows selectivity. Brown goes on to say that what Blair meant was that unless interests are directly involved, intervention is likely short lived and ineffective (6). He works with them so that they actively contribute to and develop the vision; the vision then becomes the property not only of the leader but of his followers. Once they have this buy in, the followers are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to achieve the vision. I am very excited about what we can create together and I want us to be able to get started right away. For this production, our guiding concept is going to be Death can be livelier than life. Firstly, I want to start with the set design. Now in the text, Garro states that the play is located in a room with stone walls, and no windows or doors. Now, this will be the base of the play, however to express the concept I want to liven the space up. I think that painting a window and curtains on the upstage wall would help create a more welcoming space. This would also allow for interesting blocking as we could have the characters looking out the window, daydreaming as the reminisce about their reincarnations. Next, I want a minimalistic amount of furniture, and I want these to be on the more neutral side, coming in colors of white, tan and light grey, as furniture has no life to it. The place should also look lived in, should feel like a home, with pillows on the furniture and books and knickknacks on any tables. This will allow the characters to stand out, as they are the life of the play and their home is more than just a crypt. Next, talking about the characters, I have ... Designing A Computer Network -such There are many things to consider when designing a computer network such as costs of components, software and labor; communication, cohesion, expandability and many others. However, the end goal in such an enterprise is to have a fully functional, harmonious, and cohesive tiered system where duties and actions are divided, and delineated accordingly. One of the major network architectures used to facilitate this process is known as the TCP/IP Protocol Suite. The TCP/IP Protocol Suite was designed by scientists in the effort to support a new type of network known as the ARAPNET that was being installed across the US in the late 60 s to 70 s. (White, 2013, p. 15) The challenge was to create an open system whereby all networks could freely communicate with each other. The design was based on a layered system whereby the user would connect at the topmost (or application) layer, while at the same time being removed or separated from the lower (physical) layer. Although the number of layers is not exactly set, depending on the source this number can range between five and seven layers, with each layer providing services to the layer above it. For the purposes of this discussion however, we will address the five layer model.
